Through a partnership with Chexar Networks, Visa will offer a platform that allows Visa prepaid-card users to deposit checks remotely into their accounts, by using a mobile device to take photos of paper checks.

By the end of the year, existing prepaid cardholders with RushCard, AccountNow and Plastyc will be able to enroll their Visa prepaid cards to make remote deposits.

β€œIt’s no secret that reloadable prepaid cards are growing in popularity, and we are happy to provide consumers with a secure and convenient way to deposit funds and have immediate access to their money,” said Drew W. Edwards, founder and CEO of Chexar, in a news release.

Chexar predicts that 11 percent of consumer checks will be deposits via mobile devices by 2016.
