College loans got you feeling down? Well, this new website probably won’t help, but it does offer solutions for the next generation.
We recently stumbled across SurveyOfTheStates.com, a website created by the Council For Economic Education. While the stats are grim, the website design is a smooth interactive process. Launched earlier this month and based on the CEE’s biennial report, Survey Of The States outlines the dire condition of young Americans’ finances and connects it to the lack of economic education for high schoolers.
For example, fewer than 20% of high school teachers report feeling competent to teach personal finance topics, and one-third of parents are more comfortable talking with their kids about smoking, drinking and bullying than about money, according to the website. That explains a lot.
See the numbers for yourself at SurveyOfTheStates.com.
