    DO NOT GO TO AMERIS

DO NOT GO TO AMERIS BANK
I've had Ameris Bank since 2008 and i must say it is horrible. I still bank with Ameris because i currently owe a bank (under fraud) and have no choice but to stay with Ameris. Ameris bank, here in Jacksonville, close at 5pm everyday with ONE of many offices being open on saturday which is a 45 mins drive from my area. (closes at noon) Not the most friendiest ppl might i add. Currently, (this is the third time), i ordered a new debit card on 6/27 and still have not received it. i called three times and was advised if they were to order a new one, it will cancel the old one. which does no justice for me. There is a $67 charge for a three day delivery, unbelieveable. Most banks offer temporarily debit cards, however, Ameris does not. Ameris is unreliable and is unable to perform great service to their customers. i cannot wait to leave this bank. After being loyal for 11 years i have yet to have a great experience with this bank. with that being said GOOD LUCK!

    Too big for small businesses

I have had my personal and business accounts at Ameris for 5 years now, after Ameris took Darby Bank. Originally, Ameris kept the employees of Darby and not much changed. During the five years I have purchased and paid for $27000 in equipment purchases for my business. All loans were conducted with a phone call, then a short signing meeting with a check for the loan. Titles would be returned after the purchases and payments made. Everybody got what they wanted. The original Darby Commercial Loan Manager has been replaced. This week I contacted Ameris to help me acquire a trailer for my trucking business. An excellent buy at $10000. I provided Ameris with the original receipt for purchase of the trailer for $13500, a copy of the title , pictures of the trailer showing it was never put in service. (Still brand new) I was told I needed to provide my tax returns. I did. (Never did this before)Then, I needed an Sale Order from a private party. Then I was told it would be approximately 10 days from my request date to process the loan, no guarantees of approval, and no firm decision on interest rates. I wanted to borrow $8000, I have a 738 credit score, never a late fee/overdraft. Seller freaks because he thinks I'm trying to scam him, I don't understand the scam, sells the traileron to someone else on day 10. Still no answer from Ameris. Today's business moves quickly, set your small business up with a bank that can move with you. Ameris isn't that bank

    Hidden charges! Poor customer service

After several years, I finally closed my checking account and money market account with Ameris Bank. Hidden fees…(also known as "our new policy")

Once I removed all my money and became established with another bank. I noticed that Ameris Bank had still been charging my account ( even though it has been close for months ) I realized that I was still being charged on this account once I received a paper statement… The irony is, they charge my account for the paper statement.

Turns out no one at the Drayton Street bank, or anyone that I had contacted via email knew how to properly close account… Which continued both my accounts to accumulate charges... On a zero balance.

I switched to SunTrust… I have been very happy so far.

Oceanside to Jacksonville Bank, now Ameris Bank

Oceanside was a great community bank, all round package with great people, great customer service, etc. Then the sellout to Jacksonville Bank - average service at best and virtually NO customer service. Then the recent sell-off to Ameris Bank. First, I never heard of this bank, second, they are behaving like the megabanks by tacking on all sorts of "fees". I went with a community bank because I wanted the more personalized service without all those BS fees that bilk the customer. When Jacksonville bank went to Ameris bank, there were a lot of mysterious "retirements" of employees who worked there for several years (yet not old enough to retire). Prior to the buyout of Jacksonville bank to Ameris bank I went with Vystar credit union which is still a community bank yet they are larger with more assets than Ameris. Today I waited in line for 30 minutes to deposit a check. One teller. I guess the "personal banker", who saw the frustration with the people in line, didn't think it was her job to assist the people in line. How's that for customer service? Then I got "attitude" from the "personal banker" when disputing the "fees". there are other banks and credit unions in the area that are more focused on the customer. NOT AMeris.

Cairo****** What a joke!!!!! The employees who have been there for 30+ years need to be gone!!!!!

These veterans run the bank and your business like it were their own! Employees tend to and discuss your private business making unethical decisions while you sit there at the mercy of Ameris Bank.
2 days to cash in a CD, while major changes were made to the same CD via telephone previously. Those changes made violating company policy and procedure because account holder was son of an employee. Those same unethical practices were covered up by HR and MANAGEMENT out of Dothan.

No reprimands to any employee involved.

Needless to say:::: Ameris Bank will be hearing from my attorneys!

    Ameris is a Joke

I am a person with perfect credit. So, I am not making these comments because I am habitually late or can't make my payments. This bank is a joke. They can't accept payments over the phone for mortgages. They don't send envelopes with mortgage invoices....Why???? Because they are betting you don't have envelopes. Just think about all those late fees they pick up because Mom & Pop America run out of envelopes. They have routinely misapplied payments and then charged me late fees. ....Oh, try to talk to customer service. It's like talking to a Fifth Grader...and Trust Me...YOU ARE SMARTER THAN THESE FIFTH GRADERS. If I could give them a negative star rating, I would.

Sold my loan but still give me collections calls

I received my mortgage through Ameris bank and they sold my loan to Wells Fargo before my first payment was due. I have been paying Wells Fargo on time since they have sold but I continuously get calls from Ameris regarding my need to pay them for the loan that they sold. I have called 8 times and have been told 8 times that this matter has been solved. Yet I continue to receive collection calls and notices regarding my mortgage. I have sent them documentation of their goodbye letter and the hello letter from Wells Fargo and the documentation showing my payments going to Wells Fargo. It is like no one in this company talks to one another. They are the most ridiculous excuse for a bank and i will let everyone know how horrible they are. My realtor and builder know about the problem and will not be recommending them to anyone ever again. They don't even deserve a one star. They deserve negative stars. WORST BANK EVER!!!!

Horrible! Have a mortgage with them, they lost my payment even though they cashed it!

I got my mortgage for my condo through my mortgage broker, and it ended up with Ameris Bank. My first payment was Dec.01 with a grace period of 15 days after that, I sent an autopay check through my bank before Dec.01, and Ameris cashed the check on Dec.08.

During the initial month they sent me a letter saying they sold my loan to Fannie Mae, but they would continue servicing the loan, account number and payment address from the first coupon they sent got changed.

On Dec.17, I started getting Collection Calls including to my work number. Even though it is up to them to find where my funds ended with me giving them all the information, they still asked for a copy of the cleared check. I ended up faxing that. So far nothing has been resolved, and they have sent next month's bill including a late fee and no credit on the first month's payment.

Beware ofHigh Springs, Florida Ameris Bank

I was with M & S Bank for 14 years. December 2015 it was bought out by Ameris. The same people with new attitudes and hidden surcharges to make your banking a nightmare. They hit my account for $8 because I had not used my debit card 15 times.. new rule. That in turn overdrew my account because I hadn't made it to town to deposit my paycheck. The next day a familiar teller was very strict and would not wave the overdraft fee of $35 for a $6 overdraft from the previous day. She told me to wait for a new manager. I waited for 15 minutes to learn that he was at lunch. The main manager was in a room with a customer for the whole time I was there. The teller would not go speak to the manager even though a customer of 14 years was going to close his account. She made me pay all fees and I left. What great customer care. The safe deposit area is a little cubby hole that is at best semi private. The day I was there it was piled with crap thus rendering it unavailable. Hated to leave a local bank but it's a ripoff now.

Less than one star if possible

I was with M & S Bank for many years, not sure how many, too many to count. I loved the personal service and that the employees knew who I was. Then Ameris took them over. Service Charges were immediately almost doubled. Still, I decided to give them a try. Now, they take 8 days to let me know an automatic withdrawal caused an over draft. OK, my fault, should have been more careful. I made a deposit that should have covered what they told me I needed plus more to cover the small transfer I knew would come out. So, another 8 days, I get another overdraft notice because they deducted an additional, arbitrary overdraft fee...still haven't figured that one out and of course, it arrives on the weekend and customer service is closed. Okey dokey, I am off to make an ATM deposit to cover whatever it is they have decided to deduct. Then on Monday, I will notify the insurance company, health club, etc., of the new account number at the NEW bank where I will be doing business in the future. Ameris, I hope you enjoy those fees, I am done with your bank!!
