About the Bank

Organized in 1906, local business men and women from the city of Argentine (modern day Argentine district in Kansas City, KS) decided to form the Argentine Building and Loan Association at 2303 Metropolitan Avenue- with a total of $460,000 in assets. The community association served the thriving community surrounding the Kansas City Smelting and Refining Company dubbed “the silver refining capital of the world”.
