About the Bank

The first bank in Sherman County was the Kansas Banking Company, which opened for business in April 1886. On the 19th of October, 1887, the Bank was moved about one half mile east to the new town of Goodland. In January of 1889 the name of the bank was changed to Goodland State Bank and the bank had capital stock of $10,000.00.
