Bank official openly hostile to young military couple
Riverfest 2014. I observed first hand as an official of the bank confronted a young military couple and told them not to park in their lot. The tone was loud, angry and hostile rather than helpful and supportive.
This could have been an opportunity to market the special services and products of this bank during a huge festive event as well as demonstrate their support of soldiers and families from the Fort Drum area. Instead, it was a visual and aggressive demonstration of disdain and territorial marking. The couple was shooed away like vermin rather than helped to find a more appropriate parking arrangement. Had they been addressed with respect and advised about options, I might never have noticed the exchange at all.
I had been parked for some time and was never approached. I don't look military, had a camera and cell phone that I had been using the whole time, and was in a car with local plates. Other people parked there were also not targeted for a "reparking" discussion.
I don't know about their business or banking practices, but it was pretty obvious they don't support the military. I understand the importance of being able to keep the business open and customer spaces available during events, but this was truly an opportunity missed.
I even posted this incident to my Facebook page because it upset me so much.Thank you for your feedback Is this review helpful?
