    Highest car loan interest rates

I was surely ignorant to NOT do my research, when I purchased my car in 2015. It was a happy moment, and the dealer found NBT Bank to finance. I just assumed 6% interest rates where the average. Nope to find out shortly after, 6% was DOUBLE the average! I call it taking advantage of customers. I visited a branch in Manchester, NH on two occasions, to see if they could lower my interest rate...the 2nd time they told me they could help by refinancing my car, and adding an additional 6 months onto my loan, so even though my monthly payment would be a little lower, I'd be paying even more for the car in long-term. Awful bank!!! Don't waste your time, or MONEY! CAN'T WAIT TILL MY CAR IS PAYED OFF IN 3 YEARS, will never have anything to do with NBT ever again, and try my best to make sure others don't make the same mistake!

    HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH CINDY

So, first of all, their online site is horrible! They changed it a few weeks ago and I can't get by this "Confirm" page and when I called Customer Service, they had absolutely no idea how to help me and gave me no support. So, now I am just unable to use the mobile app.

Secondly, I was sent a Debit card from THEM. I dialed the number that I was directed to, to activate my card. After entering the security number, I heard a recording telling me that they could not proceed. My security number was not recognized?! So, I called the Customer Service department and spoke with an agent, who told me she had "forced" the number, so it's "all set" and it should work.

The next day, I go to a store near work, and my CARD WILL NOT WORK. All I get is an error message. Thankfully, I was still carrying my old card. I tried that and it worked perfectly. So, I called Customer Service AGAIN, and the agent told me that there must be something wrong with that machine. I told her that I used my old card immediately after getting an error message, and everything was fine. She said she didn't know. I asked if I could speak to someone higher up to get a resolution. AFTER A 10-MINUTE HOLD TIME, WITH NO ACKNOWLEDGMENT WHATSOEVER, a manager named Cindy got on the line. She told me I would have to try the Canastota branch ATM machine. I told her that with my work hours, this was not at all convenient to me. She never offered to set up an apt with me to try and get this cleared up. She then said she could cancel my card and re-issue it. Okay, that will take 7-10 days DURING CHRISTMAS AND PROVIDE ME WITH A NEW NUMBER, WHICH I DON'T WANT!!!! No "I'm so sorry about the inconvenience." No, "Is there a time when it would be convenient for you to come in and we'll help you?" NOTHING. And when she told me she could cancel my card and re-issue it, she said it as if it was a punishment. She was EXTREMELY PATRONIZING AND UNCARING AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT, NOR DID SHE CARE. I guess she's there to collect a paycheck, because she's NOT there for Customer Service. She needs to be completely trained in people skills and communication. She was INEPT, PATRONIZING, AND RUDE.

I intend on closing my account with them as soon as possible. My husband will be closing his, also, as will my children. There are at least two other banks right in my town that I will look into.

Not to mention, their fees are exorbitant!! Way over norm.

Don't take treatment like this from these businesses. This a card that THEY mailed to ME and yet they were acting like they were doing me a FAVOR. A very disrespectful company and I will tell anyone who will listen about my story. I will also post to EVERY SINGLE SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT I CAN FIND.

They don't deserve ANY STARS, but I could not post without at least giving them a star. They are totally useless.

    Horrible

First off, their online and mobile services suck! I can never link my account to apps such as QuickBooks, etc. When I try to log into my online account, it tells me my password is incorrect, which it is not. Then, after so many tried I am locked out of the account and have to call them!
More than once there has been a "bank error" where all of a sudden quite a bit of money will be missing from my account only to mysteriously reappear a few days later. When I ask about this, I'm told "oh well we had a computer glitch," etc.
The employees at my local branch are very friendly and helpful, but the bank's overall services suck!

Bank error yet keeping my money

Had a payment arrangement set up for $500 every 2 weeks, I called back and we set up a different one for $250 a week, checked my checking account this morning and $750 was taken out and over drafted my account. Nbt refuses to refund the $500 even after admitting the person I spoke with didn't leave good notes in the system

The first time they checked to see if the customer really wrote the check, which was normal, then they cashed it. the following two times they cashed it out also, however my last check for they tried to call and verify and the customer was not there. I waited a whole hour then they even charged a $10 dollar check cashing fee! Can you believe it? Don't you know if I have already cashed three checks then the fourth one is going to be good, NBT Bank? Don't you know AN HOUR is a long time to wait and THEN YOU EVEN CHARGE ME TEN DOLLARS??? Continuing Saga

I have been trying to close my account since April. Despite the return of my balance of $ .42 and assurance by the bank after subsequently receiving a letter advising me of an overdraft and the potential for a $5 daily fee assessment , that my account was closed. I trusted that the account was finally closed. The branch had told me they would call me to confirm that my account was closed based on the now zero balance. They never did call.. I subsequently received a notice that my check guard was still open and I would have to draft a letter to close the line
I called Norwich office after receiving a statement showing my unused checking line. I Again went to a branch and they informed us that they had never heard of writing a letter to close , but helped me draft a letter anyway just to be sure in case they missed training on this. The branch person said again they would make a follow up call to me to confirm closing of my account. They never called . Yesterday I receive a letter from NBT
with a service charge driven overdraft marked urgent . Can't believe the continuing problems I am having . The branch seems very frustrated with the support they receive from their headquarters. They vented that the bank keeps cutting back staff to save money so service is compromised. This bank does not appear to have its act together. The Leadership of this organization is heading this bank in the wrong direction. I hope to finally get this resolved before they report it to check systems or credit bureau.

    beware

I opened a savings account for my son when he was born. My husband and I have a checking account with them as well. When we moved a few years after opening my sons account we changed our address with NBT for our main account. My name was also on my sons account but we forgot to update that address. Since he was a baby we did not add anything to his account for a while. Apparently they tried to notify us that my sons account was inactive and they were going to send the money to the state as unclaimed funds. They said they sent letters to our old address we never received any letters. My checking account is active, they never tried to call or bothered to look up any information about me they only used the address my sons account had with it never even tried to call the number on his account. His account was closed and the money was sent to the state. Now i have to contact the state and go through a lot of headache to hopefully recover the money. How much trouble would a courtesy phone call been?

My most unfortunate and horrible experience at NBT Bank

My mother passed away and left money for me and my other three siblings, equal amounts to all of us. Mine was put into trust accounts, for a "disability," that was frankly created by the medical establishment starting long ago, a "chemical straightjacket," is the term I've learned is used for a presumed "diagnosis" of "mental illness," I no longer consider valid at all.

This is a disaster. I've needed disbursements from these trusts to save my life from "the medical establishment," however, as my brother is a co-signature, he is more interested in keeping the money in the Trusts for himself, and the others, in the event I pass away, and is determined to see me "medicated," and made docile as an example for his son, who's in his own words, "crazy." The doctors I think have given up their efforts at this point, I'm doing quite well, off the prescription drugs (thank God).

This has been an absolute horror, Barry Shay, who is the V. President of Trusts of the bank, has sided with my brother, and not released funds for desperate repairs to my house, which is practically paid off in mortgage financing, as I've recovered from 3 decades of prescription drugs that damaged my body and mind in several ways; I was in a "chemical haze" for nearly 3 decades, and wasn't aware of it, and that those "medications," were in fact killing me. Nor has the bank allowed me money for health reasons, other than malicious "doctor," MD's who always resort to "mental diagnosis'" and prescription drugs, a demented lot in my informed opinion.

I've not been in touch with other "family" members, until they requested information about me; lets be serious, they never showed any concern for me before, it's about the money in my Trust accounts. My brother has taken this to the point where he has hired an attorney and the bank has hired an attorney, and used the money in my Trusts to pay them. That's my money, that my mother left me for "continued growth and benefit." The bank and the rest of the family want it for themselves and lie about their true intentions; I'm not a stupid man.

Bank representatives in Norwich grilled me alone when I stopped in to ask about access to their website wealth management. I had hired a lawyer from Bousquet Holstein, Emily Lawson, who along with other lawyers have charged me huge amounts of money for their time, and other than a petition to dismiss my brother Richard from my Trusts based on conflict of interest and "malfeasance," did nothing more than irritate me and insult my integrity. In surrogate court, Ms. Lawson didn't show up 10 minutes late, Cecelia Tyson did however, and instead of arguing the petition she formulated before the Judge, she first stated that I had "mental issues," then sheepishly consented to an adjournment while I waited outside the judges chambers and NBT Bank, my brother's attorney, and she spoke... over two hours later, this gets worse...
My petition awaits in surrogate court, though no one has informed me of this.
The lawyers are, for lack of a better word, "vipers," and I won't get started about the court representatives, my brother, Mr. Shay, are nothing less then (I can't even think of an appropriate term, but "lower than a snake's belly, would apply to all of them).

I'm disappointed in Mr. Shay, NBT Bank who I trusted, and all those I previously held in high esteem.

    Phone Service there is none.

I had a loan from a dental office thru a credit card who used NBT bank. I took out the loan and began payments. After several months the Insurance made a payment to the dentist who credited to my account and they in turn credited to the credit card, who says they credited back to NBT. When I get my statement showing the transaction, first it takes 2 months for the credit to appear, and when it does they have added the amount to my loan not deducted. So I call customer service on the phone, I'm writing this as I have been on the phone for 1 hour and 40 minutes and still no one will assist me. So this bank will not hire enough people to handle phone calls? First you add money to my account so I have to pay a higher interest when you are suppose to deduct it then when I try and get it fixed you can't even answer the phone to correct your error. Very poor bank I will never use any credit involving NBT again.

Do Not Do Business With / Stay Away

I recently had a problem with this bank, which I had became associated with because I had an NBT account in Perth Office transferred to this Broadalbin, NY office. My problem was I was in hospital and father-in-law had a stroke, my wife made a purchase on Ebay and thought she put it on Paypal credit card, but it went over to my backup ebay account (NBT bank), which I only keep at $50. The NBT account went negative to a balance of -$35.00, no one called, a statement was sent, but since we never use the account it got thrown away.

I reconciled everything with the bank, it cost me $245.00, but they decided to put me on a little known list called the Chexsystems list. Over $35.00 and a person with a 750-780 credit rating, and no phone call, this is what they did. When I asked [Redacted] at bank why she did not call, she said I usually call, but I don't always leave messages. Are you kidding me? Over something with consequences of a person being on a Chexsystems list (preventing you from opening up further accounts), you would think leaving a message would be mandatory.

Do not do business with this bank.

The issue we ran into had to do with our last payment being a different amount, which is understandable. Don't call and berate us about it though. We will never do business with this company again.
