About the Bank

Signature Bank is a full service bank based in New York City, with operations in all five boroughs, as well as Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties in New York State and Fairfield County in Connecticut. The bank primarily targets business owners and their senior staff members, serving them through 30 Private Client office locations. Signature Bank’s banking products include both personal and business accounts.

In the personal banking category, account selections include checking, money market and CD accounts. Signature Basic Checking is a straightforward checking option, with no minimum balance requirement and a low monthly service fee. This account allows for eight fee-free withdrawals each month; after that, a small transaction fee applies to additional withdrawals.

Signature Personal Checking and Monogram Personal Checking are designed for checking customers who maintain a higher balance in their accounts. These accounts require a minimum balance of $4,000 and $5,000 respectively to avoid a monthly fee. There’s no activity fee for these accounts and as an added benefit, Signature Bank reimburses ATM fees charged when you use another bank’s machine in the U.S. Signature Bank charges no fees of its own when you visit another financial institution’s ATM.

The Monogram Insured Money Market account and Monogram Money Market Funds program both come with ATM card access, or you can link them to your Signature Bank checking account debit card. The former requires a minimum balance of $5,000 to avoid a monthly fee; the latter bumps that up to $25,000. Both accounts allow for convenient purchases or withdrawals, but you’ll pay a fairly steep excess withdrawal fee if you go over six transactions per month. If you’d like to earn interest on balances over the long term and you don’t need ready access through an ATM or debit card, a Signature Bank CD may be the better option.

If you need a home loan, home equity line of credit, personal loan or line of credit, credit card or business loan, Signature Bank makes those products available through its Private Client banking group. Both personal and business credit cards are offered and business loan options include working capital loans, equipment financing, commercial mortgage loans and leasehold improvement loans.

Signature Bank also covers other aspects of your personal financial life with wealth management services and insurance products, ranging from simple term life to disability coverage. Similar products and services are also available to handle those same needs in your business.

Signature Bank customers have access to their accounts through online and mobile banking. You can manage personal and business accounts in one place online and handle tasks like internal account transfers, ACH transfers to external accounts, wire transfers, bill payments and stop payments. The mobile banking app also allows for account-to-account transfers, bill payments and mobile check deposits for maximum convenience. If you need additional help, members of the Private Client banking group are waiting on standby to answer account questions or offer tailored guidance on Signature Bank products and services.

Was it Discrimination? or Do they only accept NY Residents?

As Chase Private Clients and Citi Bank Gold Members, we value great corporations to do business with. We did our research and found Signature Bank #1 Ranked in Forbes Magazine. Since we do have family near White Plains NY, we were excited to open an account with them. We met with a couple of their employees and signed the forms and gave them a check to open an account. Until Monday morning when we received a phone call that their compliance department felt that we are a high risk. High Risk? Unfortunately, we do feel that we were discriminated on. We Don't recommend you bring your business here. Why can't we open up an account in NY because we live in Florida? That is absurd.
