    Ruined Credit

Due to an accident my wife had on 30 june 2016 I was forced into asking BB&T to defer payments on 2 accounts. They did agree to do this and it was a lengthy process. Due to the time lag from one department to another these months were turned in as 30 days late even though they were deferred . Since that time the numbers on the right side of the statements I get that show whats been paid or what part of a month remains needing paid, have been wrong and reflect incorrect data as made in a statement from BB&T in April 2017 to the BBB. At which time they said they were diligently working on fixing the problem. I then try to do a loan modification on these two vehicles at the suggestion of bank personnel to lower the monthly payments to an amount I could afford because I had to stop working for 10 months to provide home health care to my wife. I went through that lengthy process to do just that and it came back denied saying my income was too low.. What? That was the reason I was attempting to lower it in the first place. It has been over a year since BB&T said they were diligently working on fixing the problem. I have been told by the bank that right side of the statement is wrong but when it comes to the credit report it is right and even have copies of statements that say for certain months, paid on time, but still turned in as late. I have had 2 months of payments deferred on each vehicle over a 12 month period of time but have paid as many as 14 late payment fees on one of them. I have had intent to repossess letters show up on my truck that was 19 days past due because my payments that I sent in were applied to the same months that were deferred. Nothing ever gets fixed. They have put my family through a lot of mental anguish at the same time we are dealing with a family member that suffered a TBI that is far from be back to herself. BB&T is a joke. I have asked many supervisor to explain exactly the same set of numbers to me and everyone comes up with a different answer. I know math hasnt changed that much and that 2 plus 2 was four last month and still is today, so where would the problem be??

BB&T sets due dates on days they do not accept payments on purpose to collect late fees

BB&T is in the habit of setting due dates for payments on days they do not accept online payments. Sundays are a popular due date. No online payments are accepted on Sat or Sun. So the real due date is in fact Friday. Sundays, in this case, are a false due date. What happens is that you can go to make a payment on a Saturday - the day before payment is due - and although the site accepts your scheduled payment on that Saturday, they automatically date it as though your payment is being made on Monday, the day AFTER payment is due. Clearly this is to collect 'late' fess from folks who did indeed pay before the due date. If payments cannot be accepted on Sunday, this bank needs to stop fishing for late fees, and make their 'due' dates only on days which they allow banking to be dated. This is a very unscrupulous practice - bordering on being actual fraud in how customers are 'set up' to miss due dates.

If you want your privacy invaded, Deanna Damon Branch Banker should will help you with that.
She questioned me about personal and private information which had nothing to do with banking. Then Mo Coppage lied about getting free checking account statements free from former Bank of KY. So some customers have to pay, but if your a relative it's free to your old checking account statements. .
I wouldn't it past Deanna Damon to steal money out of some accounts. She's a liar.
She manages money for her brother's illegal drug activity until recently, she switched to Huntington and his house foreclosed as they are running scared
. Yes, if you want to do business with a bank that keeps someone like her on the payroll, go ahead you'll be deeply dissatisfied.
By the way, Deanna Damon's brothers are gun and drug felons.
Corporate is even worse to work with. Stay away. Fifth Third is awesome, great customer service, no privacy invasion and treat you like you're the only customer they have. BB&T employees are deeply disgruntled.

Do not recognize POA as a legal document

If you have a joint account with your elder parent and are POA, RUN DON'T WALK to go to another banking institution that will recognize your legal document. My mother has mid-stage dementia which they refused to recognize even with a note from the doctor that she was incompetent. My mother didnt understand what online banking was and I had tried to explain to her several times there will be no paper statements but it didn't sink in because of the dementia. She decided to call BB&T and they told her she would have to come to the bank in order to give her information so she called a cab and went to the bank.
My mother didn't recognize her signature on her checks and the bank implied to her that I was probably signing her name and asked my mother if she would like to take me off of the account. My mother agreed because she wanted a paper statement and it also triggered paranoia which has totally severed our relationship. I had gone to BB&T with my mother and the manager would barely look at me as if I were trying to steal my mothers money.
It wasn't even money my mother had put in, it was money from a VA spousal benefit that took me a year to get for her care.
My brother and I went to another branch hoping to understand why our documents were not being recognized. They were even worse. The branch manager told us if we bring in the original Power of Attorney and Letter of Incompetency from the doctor I would be added to the account. She lied through her teeth as well as one of the other managers. We had left after giving them the documents which was mid week. They called on Friday at 5pm and said they couldn't process our request due to the account holder (my mother). They had called her to ask her if she was incompetent!!!! I had to hire an attorney to write to the legal department because they won't talk to you.
In a million years I would have NEVER expected to go through something as horrible as this. SHAME ON YOU BB&T!!!!!!!

This Bank has a Licenses to STEAL

BB&T bought the small local bank that we had banked at for years. They have a boat load of hidden fees. They take $5.00 a month from you for an inactive savings account. They change your checking account routing numbers and never notify you. You find this out when your payments start bouncing. You go to your local branch and they explain why your checks are bouncing and tell you to order new checks. Oh, they will order for you. OK u think, some customer service. Then you look at your account and they ordered checks for you alright...$81.00 worth of checks for you. This all happened in the month of June. We have moved away from BB&T and have our fingers crossed that they don't charge us for moving on.

    Frustrated New Customer

I switched from my old bank to BB&T because it was closer to me. Boy, did I make a big mistake. I paid 3 bills, however I made a mistake and gave out my savings account number instead of my checking account. I didn't realize this had happened until I received an overdraft notice in the mail. I went to BB&T the very next business day and was told why I received this notice. I signed up for the overdraft protection. I didn't understand why BB&T didn't pull the money from checking account. To make a long story short, I am out $264.00. I've been trying to resolve this issue for 2 weeks. They would not refund any of my money back. I've had conversations with other people who banked with BB&T in the past and they said they've also had bad experience with this bank. I wish I had these conversations before I switched banks.

I asked them for a check sample so I could order new ones. They have no checks. They will order checks for me. I said no, I will order my own checks because it will cost less. They didn't not have a blank check for BB&T to give me. I have never heard of a bank that had no checks. This BB&T is scary for me. They charged me $50.00 to get my money back for each account. After I had to wait 3 weeks to get my money transferred to new bank. Questing the wait, was told they did not know what I wanted (close my accounts both and transfer to bank xxxxx). YES I see the confusion in my request. Even a 1st grader would understand that. I was told that this is standard practice. Well I have mover that money around for 12-13 years and never paid to do it. I always went full term. They will steal your money with a smile.

    SEP ACCOUNT

3 years ago I decided to use BB&T for my newly created business. I also decided (terrible move) to open a SEP employer sponsor account and do a rollover from 2 other banks that had my SEP -
To open a SEP account took about 3 days - The rep. had no idea what I was talking about and BB&T did not have forms. I actually had to use a Capital One SEP form -
The transfers took over 3 months. It was nightmare, the paperwork was lost, the branch supervisor did not know she had to sign it - It was a complete total chaos . The worst part is that at one point they tried to blame me. I had actually call a Vice President for the DC area and ask to help/ There was $5,000.00 "floating around" ( it was already taken from my old account but was not showing into the new SEP) Stupid me I kept the SEP open (closed the business checking account) and made regular deposits.
EVERY SINGLE TIME I had to make a SEP deposit, there was a delay. The teller had to do something so special that needed a particular training, in fact I will get this " Sorry I have to call the supervisor because I don't know how to handle this transaction" It was so frustrating that I stopped going - I actually paid by assistant to make what should have been a simple deposit, but I refused to go inside. Two months ago I had to go in and make the deposit myself, and sure enough, the teller had to wait for another teller (who was busy) before could process my SEP deposit. It took 23 minutes. For 3 years I used the SAME branch.
After the last experience and the pathetic interests the account was accruing i ( a whopping 15 cent per year) I decided to close it and to make a rollover to my personal bank (NFCU).
Since BB&T forced my SEP money to be in a 3 month term CD I sent the paperwork to NFCU and request that my balance ($ 25K) be handled as a rollover - bank- to bank- at CD Maturity date on June 7 . Today June 9 I founded out the BB&T allegedly never received the request from NFCU. NFCU stated that the requested was mailed on May 23rd. I don't know who is telling the truth but NFCU faxed the request today June 9. To be noted that all my call MUST go thru the local branch as the Retirement Department is not accessible by anyone but ONLY to the Branch MANAGER. what kind of bank is this ??
When I requested that the check be mailed to NFCU by registered mail I was told NO, even if I pay for the secure mail myself. I also requested to pick up the check at the branch but that too was turned down. "the check will be put in the regular mail in 3-5 days and mail to NFCU"
This makes me very very nervous what if the check gets lost in the mail like the request ? How long before I can have my money? I can wait to close all ties with BB&T and stay away from this bank as far as possible.

Worst bank I have ever had to deal with.

Had several CDs that had matured. So far it is being almost impossible to get our money. CDs had transferred form Citi when BB&T took them over. Got bad information from the Texas St Odessa Branch manager. Was first told that we would have to come in personally . Odessa is 120+ miles from us. Would be very difficult to do. Manager said we could send in a Notorized and signed request and this would take care of it. Sent in the Notorized signed request. Got a call next day from someone named Alex. She said we would also have to send them a copy of both sides (back side has no identity info only driver restrictions) of the driver's license of the account holder. We tried to argue that the account holder had been already been legally sworn and identified by the notary. She insisted that they would still a copy of a driver's license . The manager never mentioned this requirement when gave us what was needed to close these CDs. Alex said we could mail or FAX a copy of the license. Contacted a public FAX source and they have been trying and will continue but their FAX line appears to be constantly busy. I only wish there were negative Star Ratings. This is the worst bank I have ever delt with.

So my EX and I have a joint checking account still at BBT for our Mortgage. He also has his personal checking account there. He made a withdrawal from his personal account in the Millville, NJ office and the teller withdrew the money from our joint account that did not have enough funds to cover his withdrawal. Naturally, we are charged an $36 overdraft fee. So when I called about this on a few occasions I was pretty much told I was SOL for the $36 and to take his name off our joint account, even though the teller was at fault. My ex specificity said he was withdrawing from his personal account and not the joint account at the time of his transaction. I do not under why the teller even withdrew money from an account that simply did not have the amount of the withdrawal in the account. After speaking to the branch manager, Brenda, she told me she would look into and get back to me, which she never did, not did I get my $36 refund back for the tellers mistake.

I was told because I do not have a utility bill or I.D. in fl. yet. So I said ok and left. The next day I check my credit score and see that they had done a hard inquiry on me and made my credit score drop. Not one word was said to me about pulling my credit. I call them to ask why they had done an unauthurized credit check and was told by the branch manager ALL banks do credit checks and I should have known. Well that is a bold face lie as I have had plenty of bank accounts in my life and have NEVER EVER had a bank pull my credit for a checking account. I was also told by the branch manager that there is a little sign on all the desks at their bank that states they will pull your credit. I wish I would have looked at all these reviews and did my homework on these guys as it became very clear to me when finding out that CITIBANK is BB&T. I will make sure I stear anyone I can AWAY from this Bank as it is nothing but a rip off. They have told me time and again the anticipated date for closing and have not met any of the timelines they provided. Now it's almost a month after the original closing date and still nothing. The loan officers do not answer my phone calls, return my messages, return my emails, or texts. Because of their lack of care for the customer or their needs I now have to pay a higher interest rate and change my loan type. I know they are avoiding me because in the rare case they do respond to a text, I try to call and they don't respond. It's so frustrating....I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK NOR WILL I ENDORSE ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS OR SERVICES.

    B B & T: short for "bastard bank & trust"???

I got stuck with BB&T when they bought out National Penn. Every time I have to deal with them I come away majorly annoyed...
    1) None of the (800) numbers that they provide on statements or other documentation will connect the caller with a live attendant. You must go to the bank if you want to speak with a human!
    2) They are quick to process overdraft fees (for both issuer and payment recipient) but they are very slow when it comes to letting the assorted parties know when there are problems. If someone gives you a bad check, you are likely experience a "domino effect" of overdrafts yourself. Their notices come through the US mail a full week or more after the problem occurs so you have little chance to rectify the situation before it snowballs out of control.
    3) They DO NOT LISTEN to your needs! For example, I opened an escrow account requesting that a separate statement be generated for the new account, they failed to provide separate statement and keep lumping it on my personal monthly statement so that I cannot present the records to my tenant.
    4) Their bank statements are confusing and difficult to read.
    5) They only provide 2 pre-printed deposit slips per book of checks. Not sufficient!
    6) Their interest rates for credit cards are abnormally high.
    7) They manage to call you frequently from the branch level to solicit more services even when you are not happy with those that they already provide.
