Disclosure of private information
On December 18th, 2013, ***** went to the Niskayuna Branch of Citizens Bank to make a deposit to the business checking account for *****, a company of which I am a partner. Since he did not have the account number, he swiped his personal debit card and the bank teller (****) pulled up his relationship with the bank and then navigated to put the deposit into an account with my company, ******. Since he had no relationship with my company, I do not understand how it is possible for the bank to access my company's bank account from his debit card. Additionally, the teller gave him a receipt with my bank account information on it, including the current bank balance, which he was not entitled to receive. This is a violation of my private information. I have spoken to the teller involved, the branch manager (****) and the assistant manager (***) about the mistake. I also contacted the corporate offices of Citizens Bank and spoke with *** at the office of the Chairman. I do not understand why my personal and business accounts are linked to someone who is not connected to these accounts and why my personal information would be provided to an individual who does not have the right to receive it. Their answer is that if you are a signer on an account, the teller can access your information through the bank account of another signer on the same account. This makes me very uncomfortable!
I have been with Citizens for more than a decade and have seen their customer service steadily decline over the time. Their online banking is very good, and it is probably the only reason I have stayed as long as I have, but this last situation has pushed me over the edge so I am going to look for another bank.Thank you for your feedback Is this review helpful?
