Regions Bank Branch Customer Reviews
KVReviewed By Karen V. Oct 18, 2013
I run a small coffee shop and have a business account with Regions. I check my balance every day and make sure that I have money at all times in my account.
One day I got a notice that the available funds on my account was negative. No problem, I thought, I'll run to the ATM (8PM cut off time) and cover the pending transactions. Nothing had posted to my account so I thought I was fine. The next day...
$108 of NSF charges were assessed to my account. After those charges were applied, my balance was -$0.90. That's AFTER the charges. The NSF charge was the reason my account was overdrawn!
When I called customer service (HA!) I was told that they couldn't do anything because no one in the call center was authorized to do anything on a business account. I asked for a supervisor to call back. That was a week ago; I am still waiting.
Now, I did eventually speak to someone who told me that Regions assesses NSF charges based on what's available in the account, not on the ledger balance. And that is conveniently indisputable because there is no electronic record of your available balance on a day-by-day or hour-by-hour basis.
I was a bank branch manager for 25 years and this is inconceivable to me. I don't understand how Regions gets away with it. As I told the banker, it might not be illegal but it is certainly highly irregular.
They did refund my $108 but they refused to refund the $36 fee that was assessed the next day because my account was overdrawn 90 cents, by a fee they posted that was erroneous.
I'm waiting for a Chase new business customer coupon to show up (they come out every few months or so) and I am gone. Save yourself from this bank.Thank you for your feedback Is this review helpful?
