After receiving a "pre-approved" personal loan offer in the mail I reached out to Webster and submitted an application due to their "fast" approval process. I read many negative reviews of Webster online but I wanted to give them a chance especially since I was shopping for a personal loan through a smaller institution. First of all I was told I wasn't actually pre-approved, i just fell into a category that MAY be approved. Fine. Probably a day or so later my Loan Officer Sally called me with follow up questions. She assured me I had a good credit score, good income, and the approval would come quickly - "if you don't hear from me or your local Rye (NY) Branch within 48 hours call me, but you will". two days later I still hadn't heard. Keep in mind I was very clear in my application and with Sally that I was in a bind and receiving my funds quickly was extremely necessary. I finally called Sally who was only able to tell me "weird, the underwriter hasn't responded. I guess try me tomorrow" You guess? It has been 10 DAYS and i have not been reached out to ONE TIME by either Sally or the Rye Branch. What a joke. I have good credit and no other loans in my name. Sally also had no problem keeping me on the phone for an additional 15 minutes to try and sell me on a mortgage through Webster. I've since received and utilized my funds through another lender almost 5 days ago. Don't waste your time and certainly don't waste a hard credit inquiry with these people. I thought a smaller local bank would be more more apt to give me personal attention. Wrong. I'll be telling everyone to avoid Webster BankThank you for your feedback Is this review helpful?

Since I applied a mortgage with Webster, I have been using this bank. I think the only one thing they helped me was giving me a mortgage. Their service level is Very low. I cannot stand this. Before I applied the mortgage, we discussed the fee. However, the paperwork the banker provided was not he promised. We figured it out on the closing day. The seller did not want to set up closing another day again. The banker did not attend the meeting, so I called him many times. He did not pick up the phone. The worst thing is he did not explain well even after the closing day. I feel people working in this bank do not care about client.
When I go to the branch close to my home to deposit, they ask me to use ATM in most of cases, even though nobody waiting for.
Today, I figured out that they made me a loan which I did not ask for. I do not know why I always have problems with this bank.Thank you for your feedback Is this review helpful?
