Experts at the bait and switch
I joined Wells Fargo as a small business owner. I was promised no fee accounts, a mortgage with no prepayment penalty, credit card processing at a reasonable fee, and savings that actually had a tiny bit of interest. All of these promises evaporated once they had my business. The type of account I signed up for was no longer available. I spent 2 weeks arguing to get payoff info sent so that I could refinance the mortgage, because they kept insisting there was an early payoff fee even though I had the contract saying that there was not. The last straw was when they raised my credit card processing fee to 2.5 %. When I tried to cancel I found out that there was an automatic renewal clause and a $500.00 cancellation fee. It was referenced in a clause on page 9 of the contract, which referred to a 50 page book that they recommended I read. The fee and renewal clause were in the book. Oddly, I did not notice it at the time. I have to call Wells Fargo next Dec 23 if I want to cancel the contract. They said that this was because they had to buy out my old contract; this was a lie, as I did not have an old contract. Wells Fargo promises whatever they think will get your business, then they gouge you until you give up and leave. Which, for me, will be Dec 23rd.Thank you for your feedback Is this review helpful?
