The third richest man in the world, Warren Buffett, doesn’t need the exposure or money from doing a TV spot, but that didn’t stop him from putting on a headband to sing as Axel Rose on a Gieco TV commercial that aired this week.
Ballad For Customer Service
The commercial, which is a two and a half minute long love ballad from the Gieco team to their customers, includes a guitar soloing gecko and Mr. Buffett, who sings a few lines decked out in traditional Axel Rose gear.
Buffett’s company, Berkshire Hathaway, bought the insurance company back in 1996, so technically this means that he is starring in and promoting his own commercials. Whether or not this is a sign of the difficult economic times, or simply his attempts at being a rock star outside of the investing world, the multi-billionaire had a characteristically amusing answer when asked by the New York Times why he agreed to do the spot.
“I’m having trouble finding an agent that will take me on,” Buffett said.
