The streets will be filled with witches, ghosts and Snookis this weekend as Americans escape everyday responsibilities to celebrate Halloween. According to data released by the National Retail Foundation, there will be no shortage of Halloween festivities this year.

Halloween provides a break from reality, according to NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay. The holiday gives “Americans a chance to escape from the stress the economy has put on their family and incomes. This year, people are expected to embrace Halloween with even more enthusiasm, and will have an entire weekend to celebrate since the holiday falls on a Sunday.”
