Card Analysis

For the first offer, it is disappointing sight when 0% APR introductory periods for purchases are shorter than 12 months. The Citi Dividend Platinum Select MasterCard only offers this period for 7 months, which used to be the traditional 12 month introductory period. In exchange for a short intro period for purchases, a 0% introductory APR on balance transfers for 15 months makes the Citi Dividend Platinum Select MasterCard great credit card for consumers who want to consolidate their debt.

The second offer pays $100 bonus cash back and the 0% Intro APR lasts for 15 months for both purchases and balance transfers, which makes it amazingly attractive.

To earn the 5% bonus cash back on quarterly rotating categories, you have to sign up for the program every quarter. Cash back can only be redeemed in $50 increments, which turn out to be a slight inconvenience to some cardholders.

Overall, the Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® MasterCard is ideal for the consumer who has decided to consolidate their debt with the intention of paying it off within the next year, while remaining diligent in paying off their purchases every month because that’s how cardholders get the most out of their cash back credit cards.
