(UPDATE: See the bank hours for Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2013.)

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an important holiday that often sneaks up on many Americans. Right off the tale end of Christmas and New Year’s, Martin Luther King day, a federal holiday, gives many individuals a day off early into the year.

Falling on January 16 of this year, many banks will be closed in observance of the holiday, but not all.

If you are planning on heading to the bank tomorrow, you should double check to see if it’s open. Although a lot of businesses have chosen to continue operating through the holiday, banks have the consent of the fed to take the day off.

Even so, some banks have chosen to stay open for their customers. If you see that your bank is not open below, do not get deterred, some banks have chosen to have their grocery store branches open. If you are planning to go to the grocery store for your banking needs, make sure that the bank is not operating on limited hours.

As always, banks have their customer service line open for those consumers that have any questions that need to be addressed. Just a heads up, it may be a little tough to get a hold of them.
