  • Bank of America can be traced back to 1904, and was originally known as Bank of Italy. The man who founded Bank of Italy, Amadeo Giannini, wanted to cater to the immigrants who were new to the U.S. at the time, rather than the rich. It’s been said that fictional character George Bailey from the classic holiday movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” was inspired by Giannini. Today, Bank of America hails as one of the world’s biggest institutions, which includes wealth management division, Merrill Lynch.

  • Founded in 1812 as the City Bank of New York, Citibank is the consumer division of Citigroup. Citibank was one of the first banks in America to implement ATMs in the 1970s. If that wasn't technologically advanced enough, Citibank also registered the Citibank.com domain name in 1991, a few years before the world wide web was even launched. Today, Citibank has over 15 million customers who take advantage of the website to complete banking, credit card and investment transactions.
