I'm self-employed, and most of my clients pay via PayPal. I didn't think there would be a problem transferring funds to my new Ally account from PayPal, but apparently, because I have a business PayPal account, they thought I was using the account for business purposes.
I called support, and was given another number to call (turned out to be a fraud department), and was told to speak with Nicole. I did so, and Nicole insinuated that my account would be closed, and made a statement to the effect of, "some people think they can sell a t-shirt on ebay and it's okay, but it's not, because you have to pay taxes." What?!? I report all my business income and pay taxes on it. T-shirts? She said she didn't know why PayPal approved my account because it doesn't have my name on it. Huh? It's a business account, and when I log in, it greets me by name.
So far it's been almost a month that my account has been "in review" and I'm locked out of it. I tried calling, emailing, and "live-chatting" support, and everyone says there's nothing they can do because my account is in review and someone will call me. This is insane, their "fraud expert" Nicole is incompetent, and I'm wishing I hadn't sent them my money.
Great interest rates, but NOT worth it! Stay away until they get their act together, if they ever do!
I tried opening a new account with Ally Bank and they refused to open the account because my wife of 46 years has no credit in her own name. This is the first and only bank in our 46 years of marriage that refused us.
I would not try to get an account with Ally.
Customer service is rude does not comprehend English and they do not understand how to do their jobs. They call 10 times a day even after you talk to them 3 times a day. If you decide to buy a car don't use Ally.
