Charges for using your debit card
Apple Bank charges you $2 every time you use your debit card at a store. That was not disclosed to me when I opened the account. If they had, I never would have opened the account. I learned about the charges when reviewing my monthly statement. When I called to complaint, Apple Bank claimed that they disclosed it when I got my debit card. I just looked at the disclosures -- it says nothing about $2 per transaction.
Think about it - they charge the merchant for the transaction and then they charge you, the customer, for the account. I will close my account this weekend. Do not go to Apple Bank!Is this review helpful?Apple Bank
Replied on Mar 19, 2019Ms. Eryan, At Apple Bank, customer satisfaction is our goal. The Bank offers a number of checking products where the $2 POS transaction fee does not apply. If you are interested in an account that provides free and unlimited POS transactions, please visit the following link https://www.applebank.com/Personal/Banking/Checking where the various checking products and the related terms, conditions and fees are detailed. You may also contact our CustomerLine Department at 914-902-2775 or, visit any of our branch locations and speak with one of our staff who can assist you in finding a checking product that more closely addresses your needs. Thank you.

Replied on Mar 19, 2019I am Ms., not Mr.
Telling me that there were charges associated with the alleged free checking account was something that should have been disclosed at the time I opened the account, not months later after incurring like $100 of POS service fees. Nothing in any of the papers provided to me in opening the account mention a $2 fee per debit card POS transaction. Frankly, if something had, I would have inquired what POS meant.
Apple Bank is unethical and dishonest. I do not give businesses like that a second chance to screw me.
BTW, I will be reporting this failure to disclose to NYS AG. If they are not the right office, I am sure they can direct me to the correct office. I will also research law firms that specialize in class actions to see if suit could be brought for Apple Bank's pattern of deceptive practices that have cost classes of customers money. -

Replied on May 04, 2018I was called while at work seeing patient in my office, suddenly , out of the blue, by the bank branch manager that someone downtown in the bank main office was going to end the bank relationship with me..No one said that they were merely inquiring about some information.. That kind of reply from the bank seems like a BIG Trumpian LIE...I have enough trouble dealing with the chaotic catastrophic aftermath of my father's senility all by myself I did not need Dickensian aggravation about the bank's reaction to its financial needs or the deep state Orwellian government rules that make US citizens informants of each other as in the Soviet Union.

The Manager Is Horrible & They Lie About Free Checking
We opened a free checking account and then we opened 3 more for our other corporations. You can imagine the hazzel everyone has to go though to open a account. A) it took them 7 weeks to send the debt cards for my employee who was on the account
b) 2 months later they told us they want to close our account due to not enough activity, yet we had over 1000 sitting in there. The worse bank. Don't even bother wasting your time. False advertising

Very High penalty for CD, only one day for maturity day and very bad customer service.
More then 10 years ago I opened CD.
Recently I received letter for maturity day on september with 5 days grace period.
The Apple Bank on weekend closed and I calculate 5 business days for grace period.
But when I called to customer service - I was told that those 5 days are calendar days. On letter it was not mentioned "business days" or "calendar days". It is ridiculous to tell client about 5 days of grace period without reminding that those days are not a business days.
Also I was told that when I open CD account more then 10 years age I signed letter, which said that grace period is 5 calendar days and I suppose to remember that without reminding about 5 calendar days of grace period.
Also I was told that I have to write a letter for the next year of maturity day within 30 days before maturity day if I want to close my CD account, because on 2014 maturity day on September will be on weekend and Apple Bank will be closed. That Apple Bank - not a good place for any investments. Is this review helpful?

Not good for customers. The sales person Tamara was rude, having megative attitude toward me. Accused me in bad intentions, when I asked her about bank promotions and bonuses for doing direct deposit. It looks she barks on customers like a dog.
