TERRIBLE
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE; I've never been so infuriated with any type of customer service until now! I'm a new customer to Bank of Hawaii and I had enrolled in Online Banking or "eBankho." I had got locked out of my account to my short-term memory loss. The Bank of Hawaii website had said the following, "CONTACT 1-877-553-2424: Your password cannot be changed online." So I did call the 24 Hour Customer Service and I sure did WAIT MANY TIMES 30 to 40 minutes each phone call and when I had gotten to a "Specialist," this "Specialist" named Terry; NOTE I was connected to UNPROFESSIONAL "Specialist" on all encounters, NO ONE ELSE. TERRY then told me I couldn't change my password and had to wait 24 hours; EXCUSE ME, but if your establishments states to contact customer service (or lack there of) to change something as simple as a password and TERRY the so-called "Specialist," couldn't do the simplest of tasks. If i have to wait 24 HOURS to change my password, then BANK OF HAWAII SHOULD STATE THAT AS A DISCLAIMER. HORRIFICALLY RUDE this "TERRY" was. I've asked multiple times to be transferred to another specialist and "TERRY" request for my information, the information was given and I was put on hold another 10 minutes or so and this "TERRY" has the audacity to hang-up on me. Terry not only hung-up one me once, but 4 TIMES. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. ANY EXCUSE FROM THIS "TERRY" WOULD BE UNDOUBTEDLY MISINFORMING AND PATHETIC.I AM FOR SURE GOING TO HAVE MY LOAN REFINANCE AT ANOTHER BANK GENUINE "SPECIALIST/CUSTOMER SERVICEt" and "BETTER THAN BANK OF HAWAII CUSTOMER SERVICE." INEXCUSABLE NON-SENSE. I'D RATHER BE OFF WITH ANOTHER BANK WITH A HIGHER INTEREST RATE, THAN TO WORK WITH SUCH DISRESPECTFUL EMPLOYEES CALLING THEMSELVES "SPECIALIST CUSTOMER SERVICE."
HORRIBLE.

Customer Service
I came in today with my mother and sister to settle my parents trust account. My father passed away on 8/9/15. The older woman who helped us came across where she did not want our business. I explained what we were here for and she didn't even bother to look up my parents accounts to see what they have with you until I gave her the checkbook. I understand that there are procedures that the bank has to follow, but she was not going to accommodate us at all. After all these years that my parents banked with you and myself as well, you would think she could be at least a little more appreciative and friendlier. What bad customer service. We just grabbed our documents and left. We live in Kahala but will do the changes at another branch. Once we're able to make the changes to my parents accounts I will move all their accounts including mines to where I work...First Hawaiian Bank.

RUN from this bank
This branch along with 2 others was recently closed by BOH. They opened ONE new bank down the street and now expect everyone to either fight traffic and long lines at their new location or go stand in line at Safeway where they have in store branches. I was recently at the Safeway Maui Lani branch and the service was AWFUL! I stood in line for more than 10 minutes as they fumbled around with Business banking customers as they do not have a separate line for these people. When I mentioned something to the teller about the poor customer service she got defensive and said they were hiring more tellers, blah blah blah. I am sorry but it's no mystery to the public or management that they were closing down three branches in the last few weeks-it took months of preparation to make these changes. I am so over BOH-if you are thinking about opening a new bank account do yourself a favor and RUN from this bank. Hawaii has many other options.

Primitive
What a terrible bank. I had no choice to join up as I was rushed and needed an account on the island. Everything is just primitive, useless and time consuming. It's like banking in 1999 and not to mention expensive. The Bank website is useless, you can't even make international fund transfers and they charge $6 to do any transaction for you. It also takes up to 2 weeks to register any changes, get a new card or anything online or in the mail. I've had bank accounts in third world and developing countries and I have never experienced such a pathetic excuse for a bank. It's awful and don't get me started on their call center. I will say that the actual people working in the bank are really cool and helpful and none of this is their fault. And what is it with Americans and writing checks? Who the hell writes checks and mails them anymore? Such a joke.

Left After Many Years. They Just Don't Care About The Customer Any More.
Have been with boh since 1999. Recently got service charges to one of my account with no notice. I only caught it when i went online after 3 months to check my balance. (obviously, i keep a large enough amount in the bank not to worry about ever having an overdraft. ) they charged me $20 a month for 3 months for having taken some money out for a new account. I complained and they did not seem to care, so i went in and closed out my personal account. No one asked me why. Then the next week i went down and closed out my safe deposit box and my corporate account. Again, no one bothered to ask me why, or to try to talk me into staying. They have just gotten so big, they just don't care about the customers that helped them grow.
