BEWARE! LOTS OF FEES, NOT THE SAME BANK IT USED TO BE
I have had Dollar Bank for years and used it regularly even though it is not my primary account and recently had a horrible experience which they refuse to remedy. I mobile deposited a $1,000 check (this was a perfectly good check so no problem there), which I have used mobile deposit frequently with no problem. It said $100 was available immediately, and after a couple days I got a notice that the entire check was accepted and to destroy the check - the usual message. Well, a couple days later I got an alert that my bank account had a problem. I logged in to see that the entire $1,000 had been put back on hold (again no problem with the check - and the bank manager confirmed this) and they were bouncing everything in my account even though the running total available balance (of which I took screen shots) never went negative and even though I have overdraft protection. I was worried because I had other payments due so I kept transferring more money to the account in the interim, but they kept charging fees. I called the bank and they initially agreed and refunded $72 of the dollars, but subsequently 5 more small payments were rejected based on them placing more holds on deposits I put in to cover their mistake, and although the balance never showed even close to negative. I was still getting hit with hundreds of dollars in fees in my Dollar Bank account and hundreds of dollars in fees from returned items to others. I should have had a remaining balance in that account of $400 and I had almost zero. That is how many fees they charged me, and the remainder when I called back they claimed were not their fault. This is their policy. It has been 10 days and they are still holding items and tell me it will be another week until those holds come off. I consider this fraudulent theft of funds. I am a very long time customer and this has never happened before. It is abusive, an absolute nightmare, and they felt it was completely justified to charge me hundreds of dollars in fees even if it was their mistake, with these fees leading to more bouncing of payments and more fees, so BEWARE! When I get this mess cleared up, I am DONE with this bank and will never use it again!

Worst Bank Since 1855
Overdraft Fee imposed on the first day itself, somehow got it reversed in branch. However, the trial deposit didn't go through, twice they debited the sub-dollar amount but never credited bank. Customer service is a joke and branch people are clueless if you go to them with the issue. There online banking is a joke, they don't know whats going on with a account. this is an 18th century bank in 21st century. The bank is named after dollar as you need run from pillar to post to get your dollar back. :

Disgusting bank
I just close my account with them today. There system is horrible and old too. The cellphone app invented 10000 B.County and also they charge me over draft 126 for nothing because their system was slow and old every time I go online I found I have a fund. The Baker told me you should keep a book with you to register you spending which is so stupid way if you have smartphone and you can go online to check you balance, and I will not recommend to open account with themy.

Worst service ever!
I usually neither write reviews nor participate in customer survey. I recently opened an account with Dollar Bank and deposited my pay check after two weeks at the counter and the check was withheld for 8 days. The banker did not inform me of any possible delay. Because of this delay I was charged over draft fee. Service personals both at branch and online are very rough and not customer friendly.
I have used other national and international banks and the net-banking and mobile banking technology of this bank is crude and of last century to say the least! Another bad experience I had with the bank was that they ran my credit check before submitting an loan application online. I am planning to close this account once my funds are released. Is this review helpful?

We've been with Dollar Bank for years but lately they have been awful. Wouldn't let me change my name on account after marriage. Multiple overdraft fees in a day instead of taking it out of the savings. Doesn't stop the payment either. Customer service says we didn't sign up for overdraft protection but we did. Didn't even know it existed until we opened this account. Customer service and branch just give you the run around. Switching as soon as possible.

I like Dollar Bank because they offer 1.2 % on their savings accounts, which is more than anyone else. However, if you mess up and go below your minimum balance, the results are severe.

Archaic Technology and Ridiculous Customer Service
Opened a Dollar Bank checking account, took a look at their online services and found that they haven't updated their software since 1990!
No "up-to-the-day" information, let alone "up-to-the-minute" information online. You have no idea where you stand unless you have a check book with your balance, a calculator, and the time to deal with their inefficiencies on hand at all times.
I purchased $50 of gas at 7 am, had $40 in my checking account, deposited $1000 that day, and was still hit with a $36 overdraw fee. I was signed up for the overdraw protection, that would have reduced my fee from $36 to $10, but since my savings account didn't have enough money to cover the $10, I was hit with the $36 fee. Dollar Bank won't cover you at all.
When you sign up for a checking account, the bank gives you a savings account even if you don't want one. Then the savings account and checking account have the same account numbers just to make things even more confusing.
Additionally, customers have to wait 3-7 days for a check to clear. Transfers close at 3 pm, so if you make a deposit after 3 pm, you won't see it until the next day, if you're lucky, and you won't be able to get your money for a few days after that.
Dollar Bank gets their money immediately from retail customers, from the Feds, from everyone - they can enjoy the efficiency of modern day technology, but not their customers.
Their customer service is horrible. Go anywhere else other than Dollar Bank.
If I could give them a 0 for their rating, I would.

Archaic Customer Service
I opened an account in order to have the "convenience" of a local bank. Off to a bad start when I was not receiving any of my mail from DB immediately after opening my account. After confirming the correct mailing address over the phone, mail (now including debit card) still failed to reach me. Why it was necessary to go to a branch to verify (my already correct) information during business hours (I'm a busy professional with limited free time over 9-5) was beyond me. Fast forward one year and the same issue comes up again. DB is deactivating old cards and my new one (which they claim "arrived" several months ago) never made it to me. After somehow failing my own identity questions over the phone (I answered the questions accurately based on the exact wording of the questions.) in order to change my address to somewhere where there could be no question about me receiving their mail, they'll need me to come into a branch again to verify (my already correct) information. I've never had these problems with my other national association bank I use, which has somehow managed to get me my mail over the course of at least 10 addresses over the last decade spread across 5 states. I've maintained solid balances, activity, and auto deposits with DB. So my choice now is to be frozen out of my accounts until DB gets its act together or to march up the street with my money to another local bank that a number of my coworkers use. Easiest decision I've had to make in a while.

Incompetent!!
Well let's see, first we'll start when i opened this account... the branch tells me my first check will clear after the weekend, from Friday to Monday... Nope!! It takes 7 business days for the first 30 days you start doing buiness with them... thanks customer service... i swear, between the branch and customer service, they are 2 seperate companies and no one has a clue whats going on...
A few months later, went to the branch to deposit a check.. asked the teller for $50 cash back... i walked out without it of course.... 2 weeks it takes for me to get my money back...... GRRRR!!!
I moved 2 months ago..... they idiots still have NOT changed my address on my account. Called customer service, they can't help me... notified online banking, they can't help me... called the branch, they to can not help me... just keep passing back and forth everyone's phone numbers and no one seems to know how to get this corrected....
Issue #4... checked balance online before bed... positive account... Direct deposit to go thru at midnight.. which was in an hour... woke up the following morning with NSF fee's all over my account... apparently transactions are done at 11:59PM just to screw your own customers out of money. Of course, we can not credit.. that would be too easy...
Thats fine, ill go somewhere else where they allow 24 hour over-draft protection.. not 30 seconds before your screwed!! you just lost another customer!!
Get it together!!

Unreasonable Overdraft Fee Policy
They are not accredited with the BBB. After banking here for almost a year, I was charged a $36 overdraft fee for cashing a check. The customer service person was very polite but refused to waive the fee because I was warned on the receipt, after the transaction, that cashing non-Dollar Bank checks puts a hold on the account. This is not the way my previous bank did business and believe I'll be looking for a new bank soon.
