“Added fees to a simple checking account”
I have an auto loan with Newbridge Bank, so they are already making a profit on me. In order to simplify the paying of my car loan, I opened a basic free checking account and initiated a direct deposit of part of my paycheck to that account.
Now Newbridge will start charging me $3.00 per month just to have that account, unless I lock up more money in that checking account every month. The other banks with which I do business do not treat existing customers in this way.
I've challenged this decision all the way up to the regional vice-president, but they will not change this. They claim that due to financial regulation reform (which was spurred on by banks stabbing customers for every possible penny, and then some), they must now impose a fee.
This is incredibly short sighted. i will close all my accounts with Newbridge, as quickly as I can, and encourage others not to do business with them.
Additionally, their online interface is out of the 90s. While it is usable, it is not user friendly.

“This is bank is a criminal joke!”
Back in 2009 I opened an account. No requirement for minimum balance. I did not request or sign up for overdraft protection. A charge (bank charge) came through on my account for $2.05. The paid my outstanding checks and hit my account for $35.00.
This happened over and over again until hundreds of dollars or overdrafts we accrued. I went to the bank with cash made a deposit to pay their insane charges bringing the account to $0.00.
I called in and closed the account.
40 days letter I get a threatening letter stating they will report me to the credit bureau as my account is now seriously overdue for $50.00.
I called to explain that the account was closed and was told it was not and that the overdraft was increasing everyday by $2.00! They would not reverse the charges, even though the account had no minimum balance requirement and that I had closed it.
Do not do business with this little criminal enterprise it will surely cost and frustrate you.
I am now proceeding with suing them in small claims court and I will report back with the outcome. If there is anyone else out there with similar experience it's time to chime in! Sounds like class action to me.
