Awful experience, switching after over 20 years

Sad to say but i will be closing my national penn bank account this week after an awful experience with the manager at new garden branch in PA. Terrible customer service and unforgiving with overdraft fees. Paypal accidentally took money out of my acct instead of charging my card, and i had not deposited enough money in my account in the meantime. My fiancé and i are saving for a wedding - as well as paying as we go. I had paid for his wedding band which brought my account down to Under $100, then the paypal mistake. It over drafted my account and from there the customer service nightmare began. Needless to say, I am closing my account. a $38 overdraft fee is just too high with no forgiveness. We also will not be getting our mortgage with National penn as i had expected. This banking relationship is over- and I hope the manager at New Garden is punished for her rude and unprofessional treatment of a customer.

Good, Consistent Service

I opened a free checking account with this branch in February 2012. Just this year, the free checking was done away with and I had to make a decision about what to do with my account. Because my account is small, the requirement to maintain a minimum balance would not work for me. They were able to use the balance in a joint account with my husband as a balance basis for the new account I was switched into. This was a huge help, although I would still rather have the simple, free checking account.

This branch, as well as all the others I have visited, have always maintained a consistently excellent service mentality in all my (our) transactions. We appreciate the efforts they take to do this.

terrible customer service

I called to unlock my account that my wife locked us out of because i am the one who keeps track.the lady asked me my social number i gave it to her where i lived told her birth date told her and security questions answered them. then she tells me i am not on that account she needs my wife social and i told her and she said she has to talk to her. well i have been on that account since it was opened and this happened before. I am going to leave after at least ten years . Real good customer service.
