Horrible. Opened a checking account online to take advantage of the Skymiles offer. Changed my direct deposit at work and closed my account with Wachovia. A week later I get a letter in the mail from Suntrust stating my account has been closed "at our discretion"-- that's it. No explanation, nada. I call them-- still no explanation. Went to branch-- no explanation. Basically "we just felt like it". My credit score is roughly 750 and I keep an average $5k balance in my checking. All I can say is "wow". Just for that, I closed my auto loan with them. Hope they enjoy losing business from good, loyal customers.
We refinanced our home with suntrust bank. A bank representative suggested we set up an account (checking/savings) that the mortgage payments could be drawn from. This worked great until they changed the rules of the account and it no longer had no minimum balances or charges associated with it. According to the bank, we were notified on one of our statements, but like many people we do not read all the print on every statement we get. We lost several hundred dollars before we caught what was happening. The banks position was "we are sorry but there is nothing we can do about it. We cancelled the account and now we pay by check each month.
I never knew that their would be a worse Bank than Bank Of America but long behold Suntrust is the worse one ever! There overdrafts fees are absolutely ridiculous. The Bank is a joke! The rude employees are a joke, the Managers are a joke, the Supervisors are a joke. I wouldn't advise anyone to go there! Horrific.
