Dishonest bank BMO Harris
They sent me a promo for a business account, and cheated me out of the $500 promo. Every step of the way they assured me that my 5000 was being deposited in a way that would earn the promo bonus, and then they reneged. Every step of the way I asked for explanations of what I needed to do to earn the bonus, got clear and perfectly reasonable answers from bank supervisors and followed their guidance, but they still refused to honor their promises. They know full well that they cheated me but refuse to pay what they owe. I gave them two stars because I believe it is possible to have good experience with BMO Harris, but the one time there was an issue they failed to act honestly.

the best bank anywhere
Harris was my very first bank in Chicago, where they taught me how to purchase my first car. Patience and consideration by the loan officer was a fine experience for me.
59 years later, I found them again here in Onalaska. Now it is BMO Harris, and I am just as happy and satisfied with the service, perks and staff here. I tried a few other banks before I saw this Harris, but none of them compare in customer service. Thank you Harris !Is this review helpful? -

Worst banking service I have experienced
I recently opened an account with BMO Harris. The process was great signing up online and transferring funds to open the new account.
Once they got my money, I cant explain how frustrating things got to complete the rest of the new account process. I went through several customer service representatives to try to complete this process.
They informed me that a new account packet was mailed to me and should be receiving it shortly. I never received such packet.
Instead I received a letter informing me that my account would be closed if I am unable to complete the process. It never said I would need to visit a branch. To make it worse there is no branch located in my state that i reside.
At no time when dealing with all of the representatives, was I informed that I would need to go to a branch to finalize this process.
It got to the point that I finally contacted customer service for the ninth time to attempt to close the account and to have them transfer my monies back to the account to which they took it from as they had the routing and account number.
I was told that they could not confirm my identity and could not do that after giving them my password and name.
I still have not gotten my money returned that i used to open up the account.
I have never experienced the worst treatment from a financial institution such as BMO.
Worst yet they still have my money and I am still waiting to get it back.Is this review helpful?

The Worst HR Department
Out of all of the large banks in this country, BMO Bank Harris has the worse HR department, inclusive of their retirement benefits department, which is outsourced. It took almost six months to get my fathers pension checks redirected to a new account after we had to move him to a memory care/assisted living facility. Whenever we called to get an update on the status, the response most given was that they never received the required information, even though we had records indicating the fax was received. We finally were given the name of the VP of Human Resources. It was only after that contact was made that everything was resolved. It is sad we had to go to that length to get action taken. I really feel sorry for those individuals who have to continually deal with that banks HR department.

Worst phone person EVER, EVER, EEEEVVVVEERRRR!!!
Generally, I have been very satisfied with BMO; however, today was my worst banking experience EVER on the phone, with an issue of an unrecognizable charge on my business credit card. I own a business, and I have for 44+ years. If I had a person working for me who was snotty and awful like the person with whom I spoke today, I would fire her immediately. If I didn't fire her, I would not continue to be in business any longer because my clients would fire ME!! She was uninformed, mean, arrogant, and disrespectful to me, no matter how pleasant I was with her. She talked down to me like I was an idiot (I have a Ph.D., I'm no idiot), and she was absolutely MEAN. I have been with BMO for years, but to prevent my going through this ever again, I am closing my business checking and credit card later today with BMO; it was that bad. I will NEVER go through this again with any snotty little chick from BMO. Do you know the good part of all this? She does not work for ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is BMO's problem, not mine any more, thank God.

Missing promo deposit of $300
I received a mailer from BMO regarding a $200 checking account bonus and $300 savings account bonus this summer. It is now December and I have yet to receive the $300. I have met all the requirements and phoned numerous times and am consistently told it will be 3-5 business days. Deceptive practices. I'm looking for a way to report them to a banking authority.

Bad customer experience
I had a savings account with this bank for years. When I went to close it out I was given bad advice by the bank representative, that just wanted to up-sale me, and then they charged me a service charge after having my money for 11 years. I think I paid more in the service charge then I got in interest back for a very long time. Despite the fact that I had my money in savings with them, they did not care about the customer experience. Do not work with this bank unless you have thousands in the account, they do not care about the average customer; that is definitely the impression I got from this bank representative. Keep your money in another bank.

Take Your Business Elsewhere....Fast
Deranged family member walks into bank and cashes a Certificate Deposit that belongs to her elderly mother, telling them her mother has passed away.
No questions asked, they give her the money.
Our mother has not passed away.
Move your money out of this bank as fast as possible, unless you want Bozo the Clown walking in and cashing your CD's for you.

WOULD GIVE THEM LESS IF POSSIBLE
This bank almost cost us our house. We managed to keep our house, but went through 2 years of complete hell with this bank. We even tried writing to President, and BEGGED, BEGGED for help. They ignored us. Treated US like we were dirt. When it was in fact, their negligence that cause our mortgage account to get hacked.... WE HAVE OVERPAID IN THE THOUSANDS TO THIS BANK.
They are crooks. They have the power to do it.. Even if you take them to court, they can out-lawyer you, and squash you with fee's, court fee's, bank fees etc. etc..
THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR ANYONE ELSE.
PLEASE,,, DO NOT USE ANY BANK OF MONTREAL ANYTHING. Save yourself what our family and children have gone through.

Smooth Process
As a first time homebuyer, I wasn't sure what to expect through the process. Everything went smoother than I imagined, and we were able to close on-time and get in our new home as scheduled. There was a lot of paperwork involved, but my mortgage lender let me know exactly what I needed to be prepared for the transaction. The staff at the bank was also very friendly and welcomed me each time I came by the branch.

Worst experience for a first- time home buyer
Getting a morgage loan was difficult even though I had all my paperwork in, a realtor that was on top of it, and a very good credit score. My loan officer lost paperwork several times, forgot to order my home inspection, and then quit two weeks before closing.
I could chalk it up to one employee being a bad apple_ but now I have a whole new issue.
I received the loan, after holding the banks hand through the process. I send in my first payment, and they code it for a much lower amount then what it should be. My bank calls, corrects the issue, and they receive their payment. Except they never document this. So I'm getting hit with late fees, and 800 dollars is "gone". So to stop the late fees I give them 900 dollars to get current. I'm calling every month to get this corrected. I've talked to 6 people. I've submitted documentation. Now, they say it's all taken care of except it's still on my credit report, and the statement they just sent me doesn't have any changes except the late fees aren't on it anymore. Which I paid them anyway. They owe me a lot of money, and they need to fix my credit. So far, 3 months later I am still fighting these people.
DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE FOR A MORTGAGE.Is this review helpful?

Customer Service is BAD
I had to cancel a BMO credit card account - because they sent me 2 different accounts due to BMO confusion. I called and after waiting 25 minutes I was told, clear out the rewards for one account then call back to cancel it, keep the other account. I cleared out the rewards then called, and waiting 35 minutes online listing to recordings, I gave up. I went to their online complaint area and completed/submitted their form, then got back a message "Server is Down." This is what you get from BMO Harris. Phone and online service are seriously underfunded. The local branches are fine, but they have limited hours and locations.

Horrible Auto Loan Service
Recently after 4 years payments made on 5 year auto loan, I was sent a refund of about 125.00 which this bank said was a refund of interest overcharged. Then they announce that they no longer will accept payments by the coupons we had been using for the past 4 years and that they would be sending an invoice monthly from then on.
Well I never once recieved and invoice. However each month I would recieve a late bill and 23.00 late charge on the payment! They couldnt pull it out of thier butt to send a bill, but they could send a late bill and penalty charges. After several months trying to get this straightened out I decided to just pay off the loan to prevent them from destroying my stellar credit rating.
Within one week I recieved 3 late notices and finally a billing for a regular payment plus the late payment after I had sent in the payoff amount. It was costing more than the so called refund of interest in late fees and I had never been late using the coupons. They harass you to death for late payment too. Phone calls and all first time ever late and it was their fault it was late.
So I am hoping that with it paid off now they will finally stop the harassment for payments no longer due. From what I have read in these reviews they seem incapable of tracking what is paid, when its paid, and what is due.
Also I noted on the only invoice I recieved, that they only allowed 3 working days for the payment to be recieved from reciept of the billing before they hit you with a late fee.
Never again BMO Harris.

My circumstances are similar to review posted by boogieboyzgirl
Have my mortgage with Harris for 15 years and a HELOC for 10. Balloon payment was due in November, began the process of combining both loans in October, but was denied for various reasons. Never a late payment, 780 credit score and 50%+ equity in home. Now I can't get financing because the 11 weeks they jerked me around made the HELOC delinquent. Can't wait to pull all my accounts from them....not that they would notice. Is this review helpful? -

Stay Away-Horrible Bank with rude customer service
I became a customer through acquisition. Immediately BMO Harris held my deposit for twleve (yes, 12) days! The check I deposited came from another family member. I was able to product the cleared and cancelled check to BMO Harris, but they still would not release the funds. In adidition to holding that deposit, they gave me a "0" available funds balance...even though I had a little over $400.00 in account before the transition. I am checking with the Attorney General about the legality of this move. They charged me a 35.00 fee, as during the "hold" time I did have one check presented for payment and it did not clear due to the fact they were holding my deposit. I was given the name and number of someone in Chicago who personally puts "holds" on deposits. Needless to say, I was not able to reach this person.
Save yourself the headache of dealing with these people. Go to a bank that wants your business. Is this review helpful? -
