    The Last Choice Bank in US

    I'd like to say that Citizens Bank should change it's name to "The last choice bank" for one main reason: it has nothing in common with humanism. When you're stepping into the branch as a potential new customer they are smiling and giving you colorful suckers. Sadly, but right after signing an agreement there are no humanity any more. I just had a case with them and I'd like to write them directly just because I think that publicity gonna kill this bank. Looks like they have some financial problems...
    Anyway, better be aware of this bank. There are better options for sure.

    Horrible service (Overdraft Fees)

    My husband and I have been banking with Citizens for many years . I never write reviews but i am so disgusted with how this bank charges and takes fees from our accounts.this has happened many of times where this has happened. I am disgusted with how this bank charges overdraft fees and takes money from their customers. I had two overdraft fees taken out of my account when there was no overdraft on my account and when you call or send a message they respond with there is nothing they can do. they would like to to help but since they have allowed a reversal once already there is nothing they can do. there was no need for this overdraft as again no negative activity on my account and nothing was done. I am disgusted the way the bank posts charges on accounts so they can collect these fees. i check my account multiple times a day to make sure there is no issues. Horrible service .

    Ridiculous overdraft fee policy

    I have been banking with Charter One then citizens for the last 15 years my family and friends have all left years ago but I held on although I have not been happy for quite some time. I admit my mistakes and I should pay better attention to my account however after today I will look into a new bank tomorrow and close this account . My first complaint is not receiving notification when a withdrawal is happening that moment. Why do I receive an email days after the overdraft happened, the overdraft fee pends for a day and then posts the next day. I had $2 in my account I deposited $20 on Saturday because I knew my gym membership fee was coming out that day and did not want to overdraft. I then bought headbands for my daughter for Christmas, that is in 6 days now, that was $4. I did realize that I may be short a dollar but thought I would fall under the $5 Grace. And would just put more money in later or the next day. When I checked my account Monday I did not see any overdraft fees but was short $8 I had to work and had family issues going on I went to put money in today Tuesday and seen that my account was negative $36. I called customer service to see if they could wave that because it was a dollar I was short. The first representative was understanding,and although I had waived a fee for almost situation months ago with the same membership coming out and being $6 short and not realizing it till the day after it processed because another charge not posting till 3 days after purchase. I accepted that responsibility I was annoyed because who wants to pay $35 for $6 when you put it in the next day. They were understanding and waived the fee. I incorrectly heard I guess that there were 3 waives a year. I don't remember the last time I actually called to waive a fee, I do accept responsibility for my mistakes. However, he had to put me through to his supervisor and thought she would be understanding. She was not. I explained to her why It thought I was only a dollar short and asked if it could be waived. Both charges were on the same day and did not post till Monday the 18th. The fee was not even on my bank statement app, just the negative amount. She said I did not fall under the grace, because they took the $4 out and then took the $20 out resulting in a $19 overdraft as opposed to the $1 overdraft that would have allowed me to be in the $5 grace. I questioned why couldn't they just do it the opposite and save me$35 and I'll put the money in right now. She explained it was there withdrawal policy on accounts and suggested the only thing she could do was send me info on how to avoid overdraft fees in the future. I said no thank you I will close my account in the morning, it's 6 days before Christmas and this is upsetting. Again,I admit my mistakes but if processed differently it is easily remedied and also wondered why if my account does not have an appropriate balance, why process the gym membership fee and not decline it as they do with other purchases when account has insufficient amounts. I know that I have been short in my account in the past for my Pandora account and it is declined & held for a few days until the amount is correct. I know that $35 does not seem like a lot for some , but I'm a single mom with two kids. I work full time and it's 6 days before Christmas. I've been a customer at this bank for 15 years and I don't complain often, again I realize my mistakes, however I know there are things that they can do to override, or at least they should be able to. I have never had a problem with branch employees which is one of the reasons I have not left the bank in the past. They've always been friendly and accommodating. However after this experience I can no longer afford to lose money to my bank, even if it's my own minor human error. I told the supervisor not to send me any information I will be closing my account and finding a new bank. Plainly stated the overdraft policy seems somewhat devious and unfeeling. Customers do not seem to be priority & I feel I have to discourage others from future banking here.
