20 Year Customer Going Elsewhere
If there were zero stars, that would be what Liberty Bank has earned.
You would think that after 20 years customers would receive a little consideration, especially after unconscionable wait times on the telephone, offers to call you back in 30 minutes followed by a 2 hour wait--then they call you back at a time of their convenience not yours to discuss matters that may require you to have access to records that you had 2 hours earlier but not now.
Still, this is just rank inconvenience. But what about trying to pay your mortgage to Liberty from a checking account at Liberty. Good luck with that. Try to do it via Bill Pay and they say it will take 7 days! Why? Because they have outsourced the function! Excuses abound.
So, try to pay a partial amount of your Liberty mortgage from your Liberty Checking account with the balance from another account at a different financial institution. NO CAN DO. Back to voicemail trees, call back promises and utter indifference to the time you have wasted and the aggravation Liberty Bank has caused.
Just try to get management to acknowledge responsibility for anything. So, why not deal with professionals at Fidelity or another financial institution where they treat you as a valued customer? It is not that hard to do. But it does require top management to manage. The fish rots from the head.

Going down hill......FAST!!!
I have been a customer for at least 15 to 20 years. Was a beta test participant on the initial roll out of Liberty Link. WAS a great system but it has been giving up basic functions and adding "fluff". It is now to the point that I can no longer pay bills reliably through the system but have to have the money withdrawn by my outside account holders.
In the past, when you entered a bill for payment on say the 5th of the month, if paid electronically (ACH), it was paid on the 5th. Hard paper checks took a few days longer (understandably). Why did they change the dates in the "new and improved(?)" system? The 5th now means the 6th if ACH and I have had some accounts that were paid via ACH in the past changed to paper checks and take over 10 days to clear. I am not alone with this. I have heard lots of complaints from others and the only ones complementing the system are the bank personnel.
Long story short, they have made a hugh leap BACKWARDS. I can't use it anymore but it sure looks pretty and colorful.
Where did my old bank go? I guess I will be looking for a new one that has lots of function even if it's not "pretty and colorful.' What a shame. I hope the folks behind this new system are appropriately recognized and compensated although I hope their paychecks are not paid electronically by their new system. They would be out of a job before they receive their funds.

Rude customer service
I've been a customer for almost 10 years however over the past year or so many problems such as ATM down. No cash in ATM. No printer working at ATM these are becoming more common in Cromwell CT. Recently I had my card number stolen so I called customer service and was treated extremely rude and talked down to not once but twice during a stressful time then went to branch and was treated like too bad for you it will take ten business days to get an answer. I'm the customer right????? Not for much longer. Still waiting for refund then switching banks they have NO fraud protection and horrible customer support service

very bad experience with liberty bank in middlefield, connecticut.
they keep holding a check($224000) I deposited on 10/08/2013 without letting me know why it was holding that long. I called them 10 days after, the lady picked up the phone with very bad attitude says I didn't deposit correctly. This is fine but they really should notify me. She hand up on me when I said they really should contact the client. I'm very upset with this experience and I had to call back to ask what I should do to get my money back.. turn out me and my husband has to go to the branch to make sure we are the right person. We both work full time from 8 to 5, the bank opens from 9 to 4, so we have to take half day off to get this resolved. I believe there is a better way to identify a person with current technology like other big banks. Liberty is really so behind and the customer service is so bad!

Simply awful
Constant downtime. The app does't work. My ATM card doesn't work. This happens once or twice a month. Never had a single problem with Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, over 10 years and not a single blip. Then Liberty Bank bought them and it's been non stop headaches. Customer service is no help, all I get is "Whoops we're working on it". I'd be better off putting my money under my mattress.

Extremely Bad
I recently moved from canada to wallingford ct as a new immigrant and started good job here. On the recommendation of one of my colleagues i went to liberty bank to open my account, while staying with my cousin in hamden. First time i was told to bring some mail delivered to my address to have address varification. Next time i went with a personal letter received from my friend but i was not entertained saying that there should be home lease document or utility bills, i told him that i am temporarily staying here and i am in search of a house, then the person told me to get a letter from your employer confirming your residential address. After few days having received the letter from hr manager of my employer, i went to the bank again. Unfortunately the same person was off today. The lady told me that she can't accept this letter but have to bring the utility bill or come again when the person consulted will be in. I was so frustrated that i snatched my documents from the lady and left the bank. Now i will never ever interact with liberty bank again, rather will discourage others too.
