bait and switch
Filled out and posted their application along with a cashiers cheque for the minimum opening deposit $25k. Couple of days later a rep rang me, asking me to speak with me. When I rang back, she asked me to come in to verify my ID. The application form I filled out did not ask for any ID, yet the rep seemed astonished that I had failed to send in any.
I balked at dropping in, explaining that this defeats the whole purpose of a web bank. A person in Montana would not be asked to drop in so why should I be victimized just for happening to live in the same city? She said We do not advertise as a web bank. I said you are listed with Bankrate.com as a web bank. Then she asked what rate I was quoted, and I answered .85% was advertised on Bankrate.com and their own website. She said that rate was some sort of special that no longer existed. I asked for my cheque to be returned.Thank you for your feedback Is this review helpful?
