I have requested information concerning our accounts on a monthly basis to allow me to prepare the Local 918 monthly budget "Report to the Executive Board". Whenever I enter the branch, Susan Palmero (branch manager) greets me in a warm manner & asks if there is anything that she can help me with. Susan is always willing to help me & told me not to hesitate if she could be of assistance. Kudos to Susan for her customer service at the Trustco branch in New City, NY.

When I closed the accounts...I was handed the cash from both accounts in a big wad.. never counted... no closing receipt..I said.."oh.. this money is for both accounts?".. response.."yeah.. you can count it if you want..." me.."ummm..ok... can you let me know how muchwas in each account so that I can separate it?".. response.."you can look on your app"..me..."ok.. can I get a receipt for the close out??"... response.."we don't do that" . Wow.. just wow! The reason I was I the accounts out?? Because 2 deposits were placed into one account rather than the accounts they deposit slips stated .. then I was told they couldn't do anything about it to correct the mistake.. really?? What if I had gone in with a deposit for my account and a deposit for a friend's account... would you still have it it allin the account of the first deposit slip and tell me I have to leave my cash in my friend's account?? Whew.. seriously?? Then...I deposited a payroll check and was told it was on hold for 12 days...a payroll check?? Sorry.. not according to your business rules.. which I had to look up on like because.. no copy was ever given to me when I opened the accounts!! Just an unprofessional bank.. done! Something's Not Right
I listened to my work voicemail from the bank's Sun City branch stating my debit card had been left at their branch and I should come in to pick it up. Here's the problem: I do not have any account with this bank. I do not live or work in the city this bank is located. I returned the call at the telephone number left and spoke to an employee asking them how they got my name and phone number? I was then transferred to a second bank employee who told me it must have been a misdialed number. I let her know the recorded message mentioned me by name, how could it be a wrong number? I told this employee I was concerned about identity fraud because I know there are more people with my same name, but not my same name and specific work number, plus I don't have an account with this bank or even live in that state! I asked that she let me know what she found out, but after reading comments here, I don't think I'll hear from them! NO STARS!

Trustco bank robbed me!
Where do I start?
I've been a loyal customer of trustco bank for 10 years now, along side my father who has been with trustco for 20+.
I'm 23 years old and a first time home owner. I was setting up my mortgage payement to go through every month automatically. To my dismay their was an issue and it would it would not process online- I had to go in. I didn't have time, so I made my payement in cash. The following month I check my account- and it's negative $700, with 2 separate overdraft fees. Apparently the payement went through online- not to my knowledge. Now I've been at this trustco for years like I stated, they know my family and I personally- I was stunned I didn't get a call (like they used to back in the day- you know.. good customer service).
This caused a domino effect of a serious headache for nearly 3 weeks. For 3 weeks the manager at trustco froze and unfroze my account, left me on hold for hours, told me to make appointments for the following day bcs they were closing soon, etc. I cried, I pleaded. Every single bill I attempted to pay during this 3 week period bounced back- I would go in to the bank and ask why- they would say it takes time to process and I'll see the money taken out soon. That's when I found out my account had been frozen- only bcs I called corporate. However, they couldn't help me unlock it- only the manager at the branch I opened the accnt w could.. it took me 9 hours to get ahold of her.
I have paid $80 if overdraft fees, $180 in return payement fees, my credit score has dropped 7 points, and I have lost countless hours of free time with my family spent on the phone trying desperately to clear up this mess.
I left trustco today, and I am now at CAPCOM.. couldn't be happier.

Technology at Trustco Bank still in the 70's
I moved to "Venice Florida" October of 2016 and selected "Trust-co Bank" because I wanted
the hometown banking experience. After 6 months, I have decided to cancel my savings and checking accounts due to the long delays it takes for them to post deposits, move money through accounts, and the time consuming delays when using online bill pay. They literally are many years behind in computers and technology. They still use deposit slips, banking statements are hard to read, and they also took money for what they considered insufficient funds when we had plenty of money in the account. It actually takes up to 2 day's for government and pension checks to deposit fully into you're account on automatic deposit. During my account with them, they took $300.00 dollars from my account with no explanation, when you try to call the corporate number, they still send you to the branch office, and want nothing to do with it. I really liked the people working there, they did the best they could, but their hands are tied because they get no help. It also takes them a month to return any insufficient funds to you, even if you are in the right, it's just the way it is, they have no power to fix anything fast and sufficient. I would recommend a "online banking" company, I changed, and so far they are miles above this banks services. Is this review helpful? -

Antiquated and Not Customer Oriented
First let me say that we purchased a house and got a great rate on our mortgage from Trustco Bank. However, we have credit scores in the 800 range so I'm sure we would have gotten a great rate from most lenders. With that said, here's 3 problems:
1. Our closing was stressful beyond stressful. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing in Trustco's mortgage department. They dragged the process out far beyond what was necessary.
2. Per our agreement to get the mortgage, we had to open a checking account so that payments would be deducted automatically from the checking. No problem. What is a problem is this bank is antiquated as far as their online capabilities. I just called the bank to find out about linking my other checking account to my Trustco account. Nope, no can do. "We don't support bank-to-bank transfers." It's freaking 2015, Trustco, get with the technology!
3. Signing on to our online Trustco account, I noticed they included a savings account. We don't use a savings account. They are a waste of time because the return is non-existent. When I was at the branch, I told them about it. Of course, they said I would have to call the online department to close it. Well, guess what? The online department said I have to go to the bank to close it. Trustco - which one is it?
I'm sure there are other things that are problematic with this bank but these are the 3 main problems that I find are so annoying. It appears that no one really knows who is supposed to handle what and that's a huge problem. The people who seem to think this bank is the "bee's knees" are those who are well into their golden years and don't give a hoot about technology. Even though we are approaching our "golden years", we are used to banks giving us better service and being more technologically current.
Trustco, from now on, I will just be leaving enough in this account to cover the mortgage payment. I have no trust or faith in your services - or lack thereof.

Beyond Incompetent - Mortgage
Applied for a refi on our home in Orlando. I am a professional with a 25 year background, have a dual income, no debt other than our mortgage, income to debt ratios are within 28/36, have credit scores in the 800 range and after 2 months of waiting were declined for insufficient income. When we asked for details, all we heard was "I don't know".
We then approached another mortgage lender and was approved in less than a week.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this bank. They are beyond incompetent.

Incompetency beyond belief with a splash of horrible customer service Should be MINUS 1000STARS
Used this bank in 2009. Was an ok experience however I did have similar issues of other reviewers but not as bad as some. I noticed recently they had an advertisement for a low 3.75% refinance. I called and spoke to the Lee MA branch manager Elisabeth Rogers. I explained my situation. I explained my wife was to go on the application but we have different days off so she could come in the following day. She said thats not a problem. So I went into the branch Tuesday April 5th. Elisabeth seemed to be confused as to why I was there. After talking for a bit it clicked in her head. She said because my wife had to come in the following day that she had to date the application for the following day. It didn't bother me because my wife had the next day off and would be there. During the interview Elisabeth seemed to be uptight and was struggling with what she was doing and what was needed. After 2 hours of sitting there with her smelling her stinky breath and hearing her breathe hard and belching under her breath she said I think we got it. So the following day I went to work and I received a text from my wife stating Elisabeth was struggling and didn't know what she was doing. She even started crying. Her assistant Anthony even came over to help her and stated there's no crying in banking. Anyway my wife sent another text that they had to have me resign and they dated everything for April 5th which was strange. Anthony drove an hour & 1/2 to my work and had me sign everything dated the previous day. He left and I thought ok this should be it. At 4:58pm Elisabeth called me and said I withdrew your application. I said what does that mean. She stated well I assumed you didn't want to come in tomorrow and do this all over again .I asked why did we go through all this. She replied I don't know, I asked tell me do you even know what your doing. She replied no. She was rude and didn't even care that we just wasted all of our time. I asked to speak to her supervisor , she said well I ll have her call you tomorrow. I was obviously aggravated. The following day I waited until 10:30am and didn't hear anything. So I called and spoke to another employee there who was rude as well. She said Elisabeth is busy. I said I asked for her supervisor not her. Whats your name so I told her my name. Oh I have a name and number for you. Shes expecting your call. Im like Im expecting her call. Any way I called Amy Anderson from their headquarters. She was even ruder. I explained what happened. She said Elisabeth bent over backwards to help you .I was like no she actually tried covering her butt because she intentionally mis dated the application and got me to sign a new copy with a different date and as soon as she had that in hand she then refused to help me and withdrew the application. I said the woman didn't even know what she is doing did you train her? Well long story short the problem lies with upper managements inability to properly train their bank reps and obviously instead instructed them to be rude and nasty to customers. She obviously was part of the cover up. Amy Anderson should be held accountable for the nonsense her employee put me through. She ran my credit and everything. All for what. Not to help me but to hurt my credit and to cover her behind. Well Im going to invest time in telling this to everyone who will listen including the CPB, SEC, Attorney General, BBB, and every review website. Apparently Amy Anderson is the CEO of the bank because when I asked to speak to her superior she stated I am the Superior. SO this ladies inability to train her staff and take care of customer complaints isn't high on her to do list. But treating customers this way is. All I did was try to get a mortgage they advertised, yet this according to Amy Anderson is my fault. Well not only did they lose a customer but Im going to share this incident again with everyone I know. At the end of the day I hope She is found to be accountable for all this along with her rude staff. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS BANK. Unless you want this kind of treatment.

Worst Banking Experience EVER
Unbelievable. We applied for a re-finance on our home and had a awful time with the Winter Springs Fl office. We were led to believe that every thing was ok with our application and that our credit score. +800 and our debt ratio was good for our refi. We have 100% equity in our home and were told that there would be no problem. after almost two months we were denied. We tried to contact the local bank manager by email and phone and never got a response. Finally after 4 phone calls on a single day with no return call or email we contacted the bank managers boss. The next day we were told that our application was denied without any explanation. This kind of treatment is completely inexcusable and unbelievable in today's environment. Never, ever consider this bank for anything.

Home equity loan
This bank advertises great rates for home equity loans. They state you can close within 30 days and that you can use the funds for anything, vacations, college, vehicles, etc.
Well, I have been dealing with this Bank for a month and a half, had to repeatedly send the same documents for review, some of which were meaningless, and then they "required" me to pay off a credit card with the home equity funds AND close the credit card account? What?? And, I have equity built up in my home of approximately $300,000! I have excellent credit (780) with excellent payment history on all of my credit cards and that is not what I wanted to use the home equity line for. They essentially are trying to get me to use ALL of the requested funds up front to lock me in as opposed to simply having the home equity line open for whatever I want whenever I need the funds in the future. I have asked to speak with a higher authority and no one returns my calls. STAY AWAY! There should be a class action suite against this bank for false advertising and malicious intent!!Is this review helpful? -

Given the runaround after insufficient funds
We have banked with Trustco for many years now, and we are switching banks now. We happened to not have enough money in our account because of an error in our calculations, however, it has been a complete cluster to recuperate from. We put in enough money to cover all of our transactions ASAP, and they were still blocking payments. Not only that, but the last 6 months they have been freezing our cards and sending us new ones between my husband and I. Sometimes for fraud, sometimes no explination. After the insufficient funds they froze my husbands card (however mine was still working). I got a letter in the mail saying a new card was coming, got the new pin number but never got any card. My card still works. My husband's card was cancelled though and won't work. Oh, and we can only go to the bank where we opened the account to deal with these issues. They can't help us over the phone or at our local branch. Which we didn't know at first because they wouldn't TELL us, until my husband kept going back to the branch since the issue wasn't resolved and there was still a hold on his debit card. This is a HUGE problem if you happen to move too far away from the branch you opened your account at. Do your self a favor and go to a different bank.

Trustco Lost My Money - DO NOT BANK WITH THEM
On the most recent occasion, Trustco bank LOST $380 from my deposit. They said it was my problem, not theirs. The one teller who tried to help me get to the bottom of this matter was disciplined. I called corporate but have not yet received a response.
Another time, the branch manager accused me (yelling loudly) that I was trying to deposit a fraudulent check. This check was from a client who has written them for five years with no problem. I calmly asked him to give me the checks back. He put them in the drive thru drawer, but missed and they slipped underneath. When I told him they were not in the drawer and he literally screamed at me for lying. He proceeded to open and close the drawer 6 or 7 times (still yelling at me) and ended up ripping my checks apart.
Their inattention to detail also amazes me. When I withdraw cash, they have given me the wrong amount numerous times. When I opened the account, they put down the wrong address and misspelled my name. I guess I should have gotten the hint at that point.
Please, whatever you do, DO NOT BANK WITH TRUSTCO! I have had nothing but headaches. There is a reason their branches are always empty.
