Bad deed with the customer
I received the mail from union bank with the union bank rewards visa credit card with the offer of 0%intro APR on balance transfers and purchases for 18 months, i applied it and got the card. i was trying to see the card member agreement in the online login account to review my offers but i couldn't find. i called the customer service on 14th May, they said that i have no 0% APR for purchases again on 15th May i called the credit card department in the day time, same answer that i don't have any 0% APR and the bad thing is the credit card service lady transferred back my call to the customer service, very bad service from the union bank and just now i called back again the customer service, and also tried to find the paper card member agreement, i found it and saw that the APR was 25.49% interest. I have never seen such an untruthful organization. I am done with this bank. and i will never forget the situation that this bank put me in. They should understand that with such a bad service to the customer, they are already a dead player in the banking business.

The worst bank and rud teller
I have account abut 5 years in west wood branch, one of a teller which his name is Steven , issued a mistake cashier check, when I asked him to correct it, he told me " you should go in the line again". After all he got my check and crossed it out. I told him ok issue the correct one , he told me no I don't , it is illegal, I told him I have more than 10 cashier checks like this that issued by your bank . Then he told me " go out of my bank". He is so rud and impolite , I was so angry , I called the customer service and complained, they talked to Jesse another stuff and he issued it for me. If it is illegal, why another stuff can do it ?????
There is no manager at this branch and they told me , Steven is also manager!!!!!
I'm so sorry for the bank that it's manager and teller is one person like him.
I have account with Chase bank next to this branch, every time they say welcome and doing everything perfect. Please tell everybody don't go to this branch.

Bankers are friendly. Back office is mean. Closed my checking account without even notifying me. 10 business day holds are common. If you like pain and frustration this is the place for you.

Bank with another bank...any other bank
Union Bank is very serviceable when establishing the account but fail to point out all of their delays and fees. don't expect to be able to cash checks quickly even when they are from long standing reputable companies until you've been with them for a couple months they use that as an excuse to freeze your funds and use it as they want! Also, their claims office is the most unprofessional and dishonest I have ever encountered!! Their website does not offer many services online and you are forced to work over the phone so you can't keep a record of what was said/done. The double talk and patronizing on behalf of the staff is done with such confidence that it is obvious it is taught and encouraged, not just tolerated or a rogue staff. the vendor made a mistake on their end, charged my account, provided written documentation and asked to be called to verify the for the claims department that the charge should be reversed by bank because the computing error on their end did not allow them to reverse it on their end and yet it took the claims department nearly a month and a half to reverse the charge and only after multiple calls, hours of my wasted time, many false promises from them and lies on their part that they would put me through to a manager to speak with. It was ridiculous. Alisa then said..."I said I was looking for a manager, but I couldn't find one so I spoke to the team about it." she had me one the phone for half an hour waiting for the manager to pick up knowing only to come back to say there wasn't a manager there today! They also processed a claim on the wrong transaction. I made a claim and they picked up the wrong transaction and contacted the wrong vendor and told them I was refuting that purchase. They never apologized for picking up the wrong claim, for contacting the wrong vendor, for delaying my claim, etc. is like the three stooges over there, but worse because these people are dishonest. I provide proof in writing from the vendor that the item I ordered was not received and they choose to believe the vendor's documentation that they informed me they have only 20 minutes after they had informed me that they did not have a response from the vendor yet and had to wait two weeks for a response. the list goes on....I insisted on speaking to a manager and on getting copies of all the documentation regarding the two claims they botched and turned into three claims. they promised that would happen they same day. Of course, it didn't. Don't bother banking with Union Bank. Go to another bank with more ATMs , more branches and better customer service which is almost any other bank because they have set the bar so low!

A Mess.
Earlier this year, Santa Barbara Bank located in the Woodranch community of Simi Valley was acquired by Union Bank. This is where the train-wreck begins.
(1) During the acquisition period, Union Bank confessed to making mistakes in informing their customers who had business accounts there, of their failure to notify participating merchants of routing code changes etc., even though the local branch tellers stated "not to worry we'll take care of it." This prompted a one week shut-down of my company. An account rep at the Woodranch Simi Valley branch stated she would approach [Redacted], the current Branch Manager and that some concessions would be made to accommodate me for the lost time and income. (I stated even a bottle of wine would be fine.) Four reminders later by his colleague and over a period of four months, I never heard a word from [Redacted] or "[Redacted]" the account manager who is no longer employed there.
(2) Then, several months ago, I received a letter from Union Bank that a savings account that 'should have had five thousand dollars in it' had been in-active. That account was never used intentionally and to the best of my knowledge should still have had a 5K balance.
(3) Fast forward to today. When it was discovered that there was $4,900.00 missing on that account, it was determined that a teller, who took it upon him or herself, had filled in the wrong account number on the withdrawal slip resulting in an actual debit from my savings account rather than the corporate account. Checking with [Redacted] as to policy, specifically in respect to tellers picking random account numbers and filling in those numbers on withdrawal slips he refused to provide details of their policies. This was further stated by [Redacted], Union Bank's Regional Manager. In closing; My last conversation with [Redacted] was met with " I guess we are not the Bank for you" and abruptly hung-up on me.Is this review helpful? -

My Refinance Horror Story
This all started 6 months ago, in October, when my wife received a call from Antonio Gomez, telling her that he could offer us a fantastic lower rate on our existing mortgage with Union Bank.
I then contacted him, obtained a list of all the documents that he required, and provided the bank with everything requested within 48 hours of their request. Then, the next request, was to provide them with copies of credit card statements and other documentation. This went on for about 45 days, and then they told me that there was a problem with my income-to-debt ratio, and that I would have to pay off some of my credit cards. I did that, to the tune of $30,000. This was requested by one of their vice presidents, who purported to be "on my side" - my advocate. For the next few months, he kept telling me how much he had done for me. I assume that he became involved because Antonio is not the brightest bulb in the lamp. Needless to say, the lock on the original rate had expired, and I was told that it was all my fault that the loan could not close. It is now exactly 6 months from the beginning of the process, and I am back where I started, The vice president will not answer my emails. However, the funniest part of this is that 2 weeks ago, Farzad from Union Bank called me to offer a "fantastic lower rate" if I would refinance the existing loan. It appears that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing at Union Bank. This whole thing is a scam, or certainly appears to be one, intended to lure you into refinancing, earning a nice commission check for their employees, and then telling you that the "rate lock has expired", and that all of the delays are your fault, not the bank's. Absolutely do not deal with these switch and bait artists. Is this review helpful? -

Stay away!
Their reviews are awful and they deserve worse! Corrupt policies. Misclassifying mortgages as revolving credit to kill your credit score which makes it impossible to refinance at a lower rate. Admitting error but not fixing it so now I had to sell or keep a higher rate for the duration of the mortgage or until I force a change which could take a long time since they aren't willing to fix their error any time soon( of course I'm going to force that through credit reporting). The lady said "this has been happening with all the old mortgages from the bank they purchased in the merger". Wow! What crooks. Also Kathy at Cottage branch in Santa Barbara is a total racist, and dumb too. She rudely demands to know "where I got this money!?" For a deposit of a check which clearly states it is from an investment account. Well, duh, from an investment jack•••!
They hold checks for no good reason. They even bounce checks when the money is in there because they hurry to clear the withdrawals before noon and the check they have been holding for ten days isn't off hold until AFTER noon ten days! They are crooked unhelpful bastards and I'm closing my accounts. I'm pissed because I sold a house today just to expedite dumping THEM! I've had that house ten years no problem until Union bank bought my bank and created a lot of "policies" that are foreign to Americans. Like the phones. The manager returns a request for a call back and doesn't give his direct line(no direct lines) so I have to go through twenty questions with a directory just to get back to him.
Just stay away from these foreign nationals here to prey on us and force us to adapt to their world's policies. I love Japan and I've been there three times but I don't want to bank in Japan. Maybe that is what is taking 10 freaking days to make a deposit! Is this review helpful? -

Worst Bank Ever
Three months ago I went to Union banks to refinance my home loan, they give me a short term unsecured loan at almost 10% interest while to loan is being process, they originally quoted me 3.65% then half way through to process tried to raise it to over 4%, now they are dragging their feet at I am paying 10% on the unsecured loan. I have excellent credit and have had many home loans, in the past I used Minnwest bank in South Dakota, the last loan with them took 3 days to process, however the house I am tring to get the loan for is in Nebraska and they don’t do out of state property loans

absolutely awful. at first they seemed friendly kind nice. they were rude un proffesional and i thought b of a was bad.
i wanted a bank that just didnt count you as a number charging fees that didnt exist holding deposit checks and running up charges for no reason. thats why i went to union bank. i explained to them my mother had passed away and someone stole her atm card and tried to deposit fraudulent checks etc. i also said i cleared that up with b of a. i was on her account because as she got older she started losing it and i wanted to regulate her money. anway like i said after she passed her information was stolen. so going to union bank i explained the situation and said there shouldnt be a problem it took me months to try and resolve this issue with the very rude hard headed moronic bank of america. He understood and went ahead and opened my account after i was forthright and upfront honest with them. well a few weeks ago i go to use my atm card and it was declined. mind you i had just used it earlier that day. this was on a friday night. so i couldnt do anything until the following monday. i called the bank and extremely rudley they explain they closed my account. I asked why. They gave me a number that was no good to me. everytime i called it it went to an internal answering maching. i call the bank back. i asked why would you give me an internal telephone number that only works if you call from the bank. unproffesional. they get back and tell me thats the correct number. once again no it wasnt. i call back and explain to the moron on the phone that number only works if you call internally from a branch. so they put me through. i get onto the phone with another extremely rude person who wont tell me the problem but i will get a letter explaining. so in the mean time i couldnt get money all weekend no atm card and no answers. Finally a week later i get a letter explaining for me to call chex systems. exactly what i thought might happen which again i explained upfront before opening my account. absolutely nothing but rudeness holding my money for ransom.
